TC Electronics BH 550

What a great little amp. But don't let its size fool you. It has the cleanest punchiest sound and with the dual toneprints it can be customized for a whole night of outrageous playing. The best part is you can pick it up with just your little finger. No more back breaking moving of heavy amps. I fit it, a preamp foot pedal and all my chords in one briefcase. you wont be disappointed.

Sounds Great but has some Ergo Flaws

I think this head sounds very good. I play a 2007 Fender Deluxe MIA Jazz bass and this head responds nicely to the tonal variety that bass offers me. I think it comes out very clear and transparent. The Toneprint aspect is cool but it's serial(one or the other), there should have been an option to be able to use them both at the same time. Also, the toggle switch for them is poorly placed as it is quite difficult to change from one to the other or turn it off without moving either knob or both. It does have a good number of features on it, though the Toneprint selection for this amp is pretty limited IMO and only Toneprints for this amp will work, so you can't just load a pedal Toneprint into the amp, which really limits what you have available. Perhaps that can be a firmware update at some point (or maybe it's there now and I don't have the update) but it would certainly add to the versatility of this head. The ability to mute the speaker and/or use it without a cab (I have it paired with the K-410 cab) is nice for recording. The DI is great as well, I do all my recording (post) through it and it sounds great. Overall a nice mid-level head as it's not the lowest priced unit out there and it has a few misses (as mentioned) including a lack of a simple bag (like Orange includes with it's smaller units) to carry it around in.

Tc electronics bh 550

The bh 550 is my first tc product. I love the size of the amp and the power it has. I have a gk 410 cabinet and was pleased at the sound and volume. I really like the tone print, the ease of downloading is great. My one problem is the tuner doesn't work very well. I Have to hit the strings hard to get it to work at times. Other than that its been great.
