I was initially taken aback by the prominent midrange compared to the previous speaker that needed replacing. After several days I've grown accustomed to its aura and like the tone. Also I realized positive attributes of this speaker, namely it can handle a lot of content, including fairly deep bass. After all, it is a classified as a PA speaker, but sounds good with a guitar amp, preferably with a midrange control.
The Beta-8A has a massive magnet and is obviously fairly heavy. There isn't a large selection of 8" speakers, as compared to 10" and 12", so if your PA or instrument cabinet needs this size and the amp has high output, this transducer could be a good candidate. Bear in mind it is midrangey and an internet search should spawn a curve graph showing a 1k-5k lift.
