A little more room to breathe

Great little drive - I opted for the solid state system drive on a new iMac that I just bought so I sacrificed capacity. Now that I have the Glyph I'm not so concerned about running out of space any time soon and these are priced reasonably enough that I'd just buy another one - yes, I would buy it again. I like the rubber outer protective casing and that the unit it is pretty compact. I plugged it right in and was good to go right out of the box. The length of the cable that comes with it limits placement options but I can always get a longer cable if I need to.

This Drive is great

This drive is light, rugged, fast and reliable. The perfect upgrade from those dated LaCie Rugged drive (which were great in their day too).

Don't pay attention to a review based on the lack of understanding or research. This is a USC-C drive / Thunderbolt 3. Thunderbolt 3 is not backwards compatible in that way. You can use Thunderbolt 2 devices on a system with Thunderbolt 3 (with the right adaptor), but you cannot use Thunderbolt 3 on a system that only has Thunderbolt 2.

This Drive Is Incompatible With TB2 Computer Port

This drive will work with USB 2.0 and is fast using USB 2.0

But if you have a Thunderbolt 2 computer (older iMac, etc.) this drive will not work with your TB2 computer port as it is not a powered drive.

The Apple adapter and the Startech adapter will not work either as power does not pass through them to the drive - you won't be able to mount the drive.

All this backward compatible language is simply misleading:
The Startech adapter is backwards compatible in that it supports both Thunderbolt 1 and 2, and is specifically made to allow Thunderbolt 3 computers to work with Thunderbolt 1 and 2 devices.

But as it draws power from the Thunderbolt 3 source, and is an active converter that fully converts a TB3 signal from a PC to a TB2 signal on a device, it won't work in both directions

If you have a new TB3 computer you'll be fine though I would imagine.
