BAX EQ for Your DAW

Dangerous Music's BAX EQ plug-in is a meticulous model of the Dangerous Music BAX mastering EQ - which in turn is based on the classic Baxandall tone control circuit used in countless hi-fi systems since the 1950s. With the addition of highpass and lowpass filters, the BAX EQ plug-in is a wonderful tool for recording, mixing, and mastering. The simple design minimizes phase delay for silky-smooth, gorgeously clean and natural sound, and you'll find that its broad tonal control always keeps your source's sonic essence intact. You simply can't make BAX EQ sound bad. If you've never used a BAX before, take it from Sweetwater - you're in for a treat.

What BAX can do for you

In audio, sometimes it's best to take a measured approach instead of charging in with the cavalry. That's why broad, gentle Baxandall shelving curves are standard equipment for all top mastering engineers. When you're tracking, you may want to add just a hint of shimmer to a lead vocal (you know - that guide track that turns out to be the one). Get surgical and over-EQ it, and by the time all the overdubs are on and you're mixing, you may find you've ruined a great performance. Dangerous Music's BAX EQ plug-in is also wonderful strapped across the stereo bus for, say, tightening the low end while adding air to the top. In mastering, punch up your mix and add sheen - while maintaining accurate phase. We could go on, you get the point: there's no end to the usefulness of Dangerous Music's BAX EQ plug-in.

Dangerous Music BAX EQ Plug-in Features:
  • A meticulous model of the Dangerous Music BAX mastering EQ
  • Hi-fi tone control for your DAW
  • Broad Q shelving delivers a natural and open sonic character
  • Minimal phase delay for silky-smooth, gorgeously clean and natural sound
  • Dual-mono, bonus M/S mode (not found on the hardware)
  • Phase (polarity) reverse
The Dangerous Music BAX EQ Plug-in - quite simply, you need it!

Gives a great idea of what the processor is like

Okay, so I was using my new eventide reverb processor which I love on my vocal tracks (three of them in harmony sort of a Paul Simon/Jim Croce Crosby Stills and Nash sound) and I patched the plugin into the track in PT HD. IT was limited I must say you basically got lows and highs but its quick and simple for sure. It also gave me a wonderful idea of what the analog Dangerous Music BAX EQ processor is like. You know whether I'd want to spend money on that or not. You can get a trial version of this plugin but I suggest you keep it (in other words buy it from Sweetwater) keep it as a tool that you can always use to brush up on your tracks or whatever. All in all, its an excellent plugin and I Enjoyed it a lot.
