Behringer - a brief history

Uli Behringer showed an interest in music technology design at a young age, building his own synthesizer by the age of 16. In 1982, Uli began studying sound engineering and classical piano at the Robert Schumann conservatory in Dusseldorf, Germany. Uli's defining moment came when he was repairing a signal processor made by a high-end manufacturer. Despite the processor's expensive price tag, Uli realized that its internal components could be bought for a fraction of the cost. Being a strapped-for-cash student, Uli began building his own signal processors. Before he knew it, other students began requesting equipment from him. In 1989, after being bombarded with more orders than he could handle by himself, Uli created Behringer, Inc.

Almost Home Stereo Sound

With a conventional style pa, an amp pushing passive speakers, you have two best options. You either want a pair of these or the JBL PRX412M. Yeah, there are a lot of others, but they're just noise to cloud your thoughts and confuse you. You can get a pair of the B1220s for the cost of just one JBL PRX412M. Both are great and clean sounding, very very close to a high quality home stereo. My PA is based on the dbx DriveRack PA2, QSC GX7 and a Furman PL-8C in an 8RU rolling Gator case. So here's the scoop. I sat my PA up, outside on my front porch. The B1220s were about 25 ft apart. I cranked it up to the point of distortion then backed off just a little so it was clean. At 20 paces away from the front of one speaker, you could only converse by shouting to some one standing 3 feet in front of you. So it was LOUD!. With the B1220s, you lose a little volume over the JBLs and you have a plastic case instead of birch/poplar wood. Call your engineer and order! If you have NEVER purchased from Sweetwater, I beg you to call 1-800-222-4700 ext 1328 and speak with Chris McCown. In nearly 7 years, I have spent a scary amount of money here, and he has been spot on every time! You do know that the sales engineer is assigned to you and you speak with the same person every time you call, yes? If you don't have an assigned engineer, make mine yours. You will thank me!
