Behringer - a brief history

Uli Behringer showed an interest in music technology design at a young age, building his own synthesizer by the age of 16. In 1982, Uli began studying sound engineering and classical piano at the Robert Schumann conservatory in Dusseldorf, Germany. Uli's defining moment came when he was repairing a signal processor made by a high-end manufacturer. Despite the processor's expensive price tag, Uli realized that its internal components could be bought for a fraction of the cost. Being a strapped-for-cash student, Uli began building his own signal processors. Before he knew it, other students began requesting equipment from him. In 1989, after being bombarded with more orders than he could handle by himself, Uli created Behringer, Inc.

Review Behringer Eurolive B108D 300W 8" Powered Speaker

It's a lot of bang for the buck! Sounds great for my voice, is small and light to carry, and easy to use. Love it.

Great as a monitor, PA or acoustic amp

My wife and I do an acoustic duo and our main unit is a Centaur Acoustic PA - an all-in-one unit that just sounds fantastic. However as a single box monitoring isn't always perfect, especially in smaller venues where we can't get far enough out in front of the box to hear ourselves clearly. So we got one of these to use as a monitor and run it from the "control room" out on our Alesis mixer. After using it a handful of times I'm absolutely sold on this thing. Plenty of clean power for our needs, plenty of bass response, and it makes hearing ourselves easy, and a real pleasure. As an added bonus, I've used this as a quick and easy amp for my acoustic guitar and my hollowbody electric for practices, and it sounds great for either of those applications. My only issue with this thing - and an understandable design choice, I understand completely - is the placement of the power and input jacks right in the middle of the unit on the back. This limits the angle that you can tilt the unit back for monitoring purposes. If they'd chosen one side or the other then there wouldn't be the danger of the speaker resting on the power or input chords while tilting back. I'm probably going to look into a solution to tilting it back on its rubber feet, rather than resting it on its side like a traditional monitor. I'd just like a little more tiltback while on its side - that's the only issue. Otherwise, this thing is a really cost-effective, space-saving monitoring solution that is very easy to move around.

Sweet Little Monsters

Bought a pair of these for light duty work in performance applications where extreme volume levels is not necessary. When I saw how small they are I must say I was skeptical. When I hooked them up and gave them a workout they performed flawlessly. The sound was crystal clear with plenty of bottom, and I cranked them up pretty good. The only criticism is that there is no handle to carry, but as good as these sound I can live with that.
