Amazing Tone, Realism, and Expression

Following in the tradition of Kurzweil Artis and Forte, the Artis SE is a performance-ready stage piano that was designed to give you amazing sound quality, dependability, and user-friendly operation. This piano features an 88-note fully-weighted hammer-action Fatar TP/100LR keybed, as well as a complete array of controls that will help you inject your performances with all of the expressive energy you can muster. Loaded with the best sounds from Kurzweil's PC3K and KORE 64 collections, along with vintage electric pianos, clavinets, synths, strings, guitars, and more, the Artis SE is ready to rock the stage.

Kurzweil Artis SE at a Glance:
  • Amazing sounds including German 9' grand, PC3 sounds, and more
  • Dynamically-allocated polyphony for seamless performance
Amazing sounds including German 9' grand, PC3 sounds, and more

Kurzweil has always been known for incredible sounds with depth and realism, and the Artis SE doesn't disappoint. A killer 9' German grand piano is the star of the show here, but that's just the start. You also get a slew of sounds from the KORE 64 ROM expansion from the Kurzweil PC3, with a top-notch selection of synths, horns, guitars, drums and percussion at your fingertips. On top of that, you also have your choice of award-winning reverbs, delays, choruses, flangers, phasers, distortions, rotary amplifiers, compressors, and more, as well as a dedicated front panel EQ.

Dynamically-allocated polyphony for seamless performance

While it's not a new feature for Kurzweil it's one of their best - dynamic allocation of polyphony means you'll never hear notes "drop off" when you reach maximum polyphony. So even if you're playing heavily-layered sounds with lots of effects, the Artis is selective about which voices to drop in favor of new voices. Take it from Sweetwater, you'll think this is a huge deal when you hear how seamless and natural performances sound, even with complex sounds!

Kurzweil Artis SE Features:
  • Performance-focused stage piano with 88 fully-weighted hammer-action keys
  • Fatar TP/100LR keybed gives you natural piano feel

As a professional musician, I have owned several Kurzweil keyboards, a Pc88, a K2600, a PC3X and now, this Kurzweil Artis SE. What I liked about the first 3 boards I mentioned above is that those boards had a number where you could punch up a sound in a heartbeat. For me, as a blind person, that was absolutely fantastic, when I was performing I could change sounds in a second. Now, let's get to the Artis Se, I do really like that board however for me, it's not quite as easy to punch up a sound, granted I could put 6 favorites into the instrument and bring up a particular sound when needed. It has sounds some of the sounds of my PC3X and some new ones as well, some killer electric pianos, some nice brass as well as some new guitar sounds as well. Now, let's get to the organ, the classical organ sounds are _ok, but I'm quite disappointed in the KB organ sounds I played B3 for several years on the road with 3 leslies, and while I know it's hard to emulate the true B3, my Roland VR09 does a _heck of a lot better than this keyboard. The tweeter horn is not bad, but the trebble has a lot to be desired. In all honesty my Kb2600, which I no longer have, had the best B3 sound including the Leslie rotary effect. For that reason, when I go on the road with my band I will take the Kurzweil Artis Se as well as my Roland Vr09 or my Hammond Xk1. For my piano performances, I do really love my Kurzweil Artis for those. I still love my PC3X as well, after 8 years, however, it weighs 54 pounds Vs. 38 or so with the Artis. So, my final review of this is, It's a really nice keyboard, except in my oppinion, the Kb organs, and the disappearance of the number pad but with that said, if you are sighted, you'll have no problems maneuvering around the menus. My buddy )_Joe Copenhaver as usual, is always awesome to work with, I can't say enough good about Sweetwater. Mr. Surack? you run an absolutely _superb company! Keep up your wonderful business.

Pretty nive

I am quite happy with this piano. I have a feeling I am going to have to invest in a better keyboard amplifier. They are quite expensive so I'll have to wait for a bit. It would be nice if these companies went ahead and sold a perfect match amplifier that truly expresses all their hard work to create a quality musical instrument like the Artis! Otherwise I am quite happy with it. I love the quick access to the transpose.

Perfect solution.

Looked at the the Yamaha CP40; I needed more sounds. Didn't want the sequencer and stuff of the mox. Worried about the limits and electronics of the Korg. This had what I needed for a performance keyboard... Great sounds, good action, reasonable weight. Love the user-defined multis. I've been performing for 40 years. This has what you need... And it doesn't have what you don't.

Great Keyboard

I love this keyboard for many reasons. The piano sounds are rich, the B3 with Leslie effect is ridiculously good, there is a clav sound named Heartbreaker and yes it sounds like that sound on the Stones album and the rest of the sounds are awesome too! Only draw back are the limited number of favs. I wish they had a bunch of banks A, B, C, D, E with 5 favs on each. Weighted keys are so nice too! A little heavy but we all need some exercise! LOL
