Essential Kit for Cinematic Scores

Note: Albion One is a Kontakt library to be used within Kontakt 4 or 5, or with Kontakt Player (free download).

Taking up the torch from its predecessor, Spitfire Audio Albion One is bigger, fatter, brighter, and tighter. Packed with more sounds, articulations, and loops, Albion One also gives you more control, fortifying your symphonic armory with the artillery you need to write intense cinematic scores on an epic scale. Under the hood of this beast is a massive 109-piece orchestra with a thunderous percussion section, dynamically layered loops, a ginormous steam synth, all-new sample content, and many other sonic delights. If you need a palette of cinematic orchestral ensembles that will inspire your writing, energize your scores, and generally add power, size, depth, sheen, and class to your music, Spitfire Audio Albion One delivers.

Spitfire Audio Albion One Features at a Glance:
  • The finest musicians, instruments, and gear
  • Mix your mics for the absolute sound
  • Spitfire Audio: tools for high-impact cinematic scoring
The finest musicians, instruments, and gear

Spitfire Audio's recipe for Albion One was simple: Use only first-call London orchestral session musicians performing on the rarest, best-sounding instruments on the planet. Record the samples in a world-class studio: Air Studios' Lyndhurst Hall. Use only the finest vintage, tube, and ribbon mics through a custom Neve board to 2" tape (making this the only tape-based orchestral library we know of). Recorded in sections, the library gives you lush, lyrical, and aggressive strings; punchy, growling brass; and seriously sinister woodwinds. You also get a selection of massive, widescreen-style percussion. Take it from Sweetwater: Albion One will have you composing epic-sounding, widescreen cinematic orchestral music, right out of the box.

Mix your mics for the absolute sound

All Albion One patches include four selectable, mixable, and routable mic positions: Close, Tree, Ambient, and Outrigger. Work lean and mean on the plane with one mic, then render down with all four routed to 5.1 back at your studio. True legato is available across all choirs of the orchestra. An innovative addition is Spitfire Audio's Ostinatum engine, which makes it easy to build exciting, unusual arrangements, while drawing from a large bank of mod-wheel orchestral FX for additional colors. Whether you're an established or aspiring film composer, Spitfire Audio Albion One is an ideal way to inject vibrancy into your cinematic scores.

Spitfire Audio: tools for high-impact cinematic scoring

Spitfire Audio was launched in 2007 by a group of award-winning composers and producers. In 2011 they embarked upon a project to distill into one software package the essential tools they deploy every day to forge epic cinematic music. The result was Albion Volume 1, a tool kit that captured the imaginations of cinematically inclined composers worldwide. Now, Spitfire ups the ante with Albion One. Want an instant orchestra under your fingertips? Albion One is ideal for power users who work under crushing deadlines. It's also easy to use, so if you're just getting started composing, you'll enjoy the advantage of having the best sounds available in one affordable bundle.

Albion One is Amazing

I've been reviewing orchestral software choices for a month. It's a lot to take in. After talking with Patrick at Sweetwater I decided to try the Spitfire Albion One Library. He was really helpful to sell me the package I needed instead of the most expensive thing he had. He explained that a lot of the effects are baked in so I can get to the creative aspects of production. He was right. It worked out really well. I just completed my first few tracks on a new song and the sound of these samples are amazing. The Albion Library sounds indistinguishable from a real orchestra. Everyone I'm working with are blown away by the results. There are other great software packages out there, but for my needs and budget I couldn't be happier. Thanks again to Patrick for a job well done.

Very Nice

The sounds from the actual Spitfire orchestra are outstanding without a doubt. The added percussion is just that an added section, and there really isn't to much there. However what is there in the drums and hits sound really good. The metals (cymbals etc.) I'm not much of a fan of. But I bought this for the orchestra and I got that. All of that and its very good stuff. This took a crazy long time to download, but it was supper easy to get loaded into Kontact. I'm very thankful for that, I'm an absolute non tech kind of guy. Would I buy again? Absolutely.
