Hohner AirBoard 37 key Melodian

I was looking for an instrument to play solos to old rock, swing, and blues tunes. A sax would have been ideal, but I'm a keyboard player and didn't want to take the time to relearn an instrument I played in college. The Melodica intrigued me, but the reviews made it out to be a toy or classroom instrument. I got the Hohner anyway figuring it would at least be something I could use at a campfire. The Hohner has a nice sound and came in tune. I used it at a wedding just for giggles, but that sound along with my guitar buddy playing accompaniment really surprised everyone. I have since been using it as the solo instrument that I wanted it to be. The keys were a little unresponsive at first but it has since broken in. I'm learning breath control gives nice expression. This is not a toy. Get one! Get all 37 keys. You'll love it.

Not our first melodica. It plays great. It sounds great. But what's with the cheezy Archies look and that stupid mouthpiece? The black ones (with the short, stiff mouthpiece) looked a lot more professional to us old folks. This is a professional model, not a "school" model, the latter of which wears out much quicker.
