Elixir Strings 16182 Nanoweb Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings - .013-.053 HD Light Reviews
Elixir Acoustic Nanoweb strings don't just sound great their micro-thin coating keeps them sounding great for a lot longer than average strings. If you want to keep your guitar tone consistently great day in and day out, put on a set of Elixir Acoustic Nanoweb strings. Their coating actually cuts down on unnecessary finger friction. You'll be amazed at how long they last! Less string changes means having to buy strings less often.

These are great strings
These are great strings. I use them on my short scale / Grand Concert Taylors. I've been using the HD Light gauge strings since they came out. They're perfect for fingerstyle. Sound good with a variety of woods. Long lasting. Quality. The 80-20 Bronze are fine also, but I mainly go for the Phosphor Bronze these days.
Perfectly balanced
Perfectly balanced
Fantastic
As a mainly rock(acoustic) player, these strings just push the guitar a bit more for my needs; giving the guitar more grit and presence. Perfect for hard hitting acoustic rock n roll.
Great String Purchase
I use them on my SJ-200, J-45 and my Baby Taylor. they are a perfect fit. The other coated strings kill the sound to me. Everyone has a different set of ears though (and guitars) : )
Elixer Nanoweb Phosphor Bronze acoustic guitar strings
Been using these strings on all my acoustic guitars for years. Love that I only change strings on most of the guitars 2 times a year. I use .0013-053 sets as I play a fair amount of slide. Nice & relatively bright sounding. These don't feel coated as much as the Polyweb versions, which I did not care for.
good strings
Best service in town! Strings are great on the 712 12 fret
Great for Dreadnoughts too!
I have a 2002 610ce. While I wouldn't agree with the "bolder/fuller" description, I will add a new adjective: BALANCED. The volume is balanced across the entire string spectrum, and these strings actually significantly reduced a buzz issue I was having on the treble strings (needs a partial re-fret, but the Elixir HD's might have bought me some time!)
Highly recommend.
Elixir Acoustic Phosphor Bronze
Very long lasting string. Even when they start to look bad, they still sound good.
Nice to my ears
Tone is subjective but personally I love the way these strings sound. I play a PRS Angelus SE Standard and the balance between the guitar and these strings seems to blend better than other strings I've tried. Other brands sounded dull by comparison. I've always preferred the sound of Elixir strings and this set is no exception. They play easier than a standard set of 13's and I've been able to strum hard with no issues. They are pricey but they last longer so it evens out and I don't have to bother with changing them all the time. I'd say they are worth the money.
Fantastic stirngs
Have used numerous brands, all medium gauge,on my Taylor and Martin acoustics and just seem to come back to Elixir for tone and longevity. While the cost may seem expensive next to good strings at a third of the price, Elixir strings last at least four to six times longer. I find these strings better balanced and playable then medium ones even on my GS8, which I thought could never sound as good with a light set. I highly recommend these strings for anyone wanting beautiful tones and harmonics and long life between changes
Mostly disappointed...
First, I only use Elixirs on my Taylor and was excited to read about this new flavor stating "Bolder high end, Fuller low end". Not my experience at all. Actually the opposite. Bass is far less than the standard .13
nanowebs I have been using as is the volume. Now, its not all bad...these strings are easier to play, alot easier. Im using less effort to play and my speed increased immediately. So pretty split on this one, the easy of play does moderately offset the loss of bass/volume. Next string change I'll try the 80/20 HDs and see how they sound...
Ok, but disappointing.
Tonally, they are good, but not impressive. The coating wears away in about a month, and at that point, it can be annoying. My main issue is the volume difference when you put on a pickup. The b string is overpowering though a pickup compared to the rest of the strings. This is incredibly surprising how bad these are given that they were part of a collaboration between the best guys in the business.
Was Expecting More
When I read about these in Taylor Guitar's Magazine "Wood and Steel" I was eager to try them and see what they could do for my Taylor 414ce acoustic guitar. I realize that guitar strings and sound are very subjective issues and it's a matter of personal perception. I thought that the sound was a bit harsh and very overbearing and distorted intolerably when strummed hard. Yes, there was more volume but overall very displeasing to my ear. Also the increased tension of the 1st and 2nd strings made playing a bit more difficult. After 3 days I switched back to my old brand.
Elixer HD Light Phosphor Bronze Strings
I have used Elixer Nanoweb strings for many years, but I will not purchase them again. 3 sets have developed rough strings at the pick area in less than a week. I am very disappointed with the quality. Something has changed. I am switching to another manufactures coated strings that don't degrade like the Elixirs.
