    convenient, and looks cool

Always wanted one of these... form and function match. Very convenient to set up at live shows, VERY strong, i trust valuable gear on here! Note the top tier can hold a macbook / laptop without much fuss.

    APEX-48 Pro

Really high quality, fine machine work and finish. You could probably run over this thing with a Mack truck, and tear the truck up in the process. Definitely perfect for heavy road use.

Great stand for live gigging. Set-up and tear down are a snap. Solid for heys up to an including heavy 88 key weighted controllers.

    Almost Perfect!

I've been using my 2 original version Deltex stands for as long as I can remember and I decided to update -well the new sponge cushions were flattened (smushed permanently) on first use -"I mean 1st use!" I would give 5 stars if cushions were made out of hard rubber -like my old ones that showed no signs of wear after 1000 set-ups - also 1 of the cable guides were broken on delivery - I'm sure they will replace any parts (they're great about that warranty stuff so i'm not worried), but they need to address this cushion issue if they want to call this "PRO" anything - other than that they are virtually indestructable! As always Sweetwater prices and speed are excellent - Special Thanks to my sales rep. Bob Mondok!

    Much better than my X-style

The primary decision for purchasing this particular stand was because of the second tier, which I intended to use to support a standard 19-inch rack-mount sound module. I've tried other second tier solutions, and nothing fit quite well enough. I wasn't certain if this would work, either, but I thought I'd give it a shot.

Turns out, it works perfectly! The top tier arms are only a tad wider and stick out some, but it's not terrible and easily ignored. Heck, I could probably pop out the end caps and saw them down some if I wanted to. Bottom line: my prized Roland Integra-7 sound module has a solid place to sit where I can reach it, without being in the way, and with plenty of room for connections on the back.

I had to put this into "heavy-weight" configuration to support my nearly 50-lb 88-key controller. There's a small, plastic shim on the column above the rear leg that when removed allows the column to lean back more and shift the center of gravity. Thus, the keyboard has a slight tilt to it, but it's not a problem.

There is just one issue, though, with having such a heavy keyboard. Now matter how much you tighten the arm support, if the keyboard sways side-to-side, it will inch-worm the arms down the column. The way I fixed this was to install the carry handle just under where the support goes so that it would have a tougher time moving, and that seems to work fine.

I've heard the handle can break off and that support won't assist, despite their lifetime warranty. Given the type of plastic and it's size, I can see how it would snap off easily (you'd probably lose it the first time you loaded this into the gear van!). You'd think they would have designed this with a metal handle, or at least begin shipping them with metal handles after the flood calls. Oh well.

Overall, well worth the price, and I would highly recommend this stand.

    Great stand, but...

This is a great stand, sturdy, well built, and roadproof. I'm using it in my studio though and it doesn't work so well for me, for several reasons.

First, I have a heavy 88-key weighted keyboard, which requires the stand to be set in a position with more incline for stability (you get two incline positions with this stand). This means the footprint of the stand is about twice what it would if this were a straight table-like stand. I don't have a ton of space in my studio, so this is quite annoying. The stand is backed against the wall. with about a foot of wasted space between the back of the stand and the back of the keyboard.

Second, I need a music stand. Well, you can't put a music stand behind this thing because the pillar is in the way. My music stand is a tripod, so I found a clunky way, but if yours is a solid base, it will land right where the back foot of the stand is.

Third, it balances itself on a small tripod (legs are about a foot each), so it's a pain to move around because while it's very stable once set, it's not a configuration that works well for moving around. To move it off a rug (so I could move the rug), instead of sliding it off, I had to remove the 88-key keyboard, move the stand, put the keyboard back on, which kind of defeats the purpose of a stand.

Finally, and this is definitely the most annoying part, if you are sitting, the right/left foot of the tripod are exactly where your foot pedal would be. So either you need to have your foot further extended to reach the pedal, with the ball of your foot on the tripod leg, or you need to put the pedal in front and then it's under your chair. Grrr!

So overall, I'd say if you are buying this for gigs and need to stand up, it may be okay. Though it's also quite heavy. But for the studio, keep it simple and get something cheap that'll work just as well as the hype. This said, yes, it looks good. But that's kind of besides the point.

    125 Pounds? Motif ES8 Slides

Nice for smaller 61 key instruments. Had to send mine back because it wouldn't hold a Motif ES8. Mounted it before bed, woke up with it just about to hit the floor. Maybe the newer lighter 88 key workstations.
