Vintage Vibe for the Modern Guitarist!

There's a timeless quality about a guitar like the Ibanez AVD1 Artwood Vintage model that just makes playing so much fun. Perhaps its the age-old combination of mahogany topped with Sitka spruce or the classic 12-fret dreadnought design, but singing tone and natural projection of this acoustic guitar transports you back to a simpler time, when people gathered in small halls and parlors to listen to live music and dance. And by combining classic features such as a slotted headstock and a bone nut and saddle along with modern built standards and a super-playable neck, the AVD1 gives you the old-time vibe and modern performance you want.

Ibanez AVD1 Artwood Vintage Series Acoustic Guitar at a Glance:
  • Mahogany topped with Sitka spruce is a singer-songwriter's favorite tonewood combo
  • Traditional 12-fret assembly provides added punch and natural acoustic projection
  • Artwood Vintage series delivers timeless acoustic guitar vibe with modern playability
Mahogany topped with Sitka spruce is a singer-songwriter's favorite tonewood combo

Of the three most common acoustic guitar body tonewoods (rosewood, mahogany, and maple), mahogany is easily the darkest and warmest choice. Although "dark" may not sound attractive at first, mahogany bodied guitars (especially ones with fine Sitka spruce tops like the AVD1) are extremely popular among singer-songwriters, because of the sonic space it leaves for your voice. Since your voice and the AVD1 aren't fighting for the same range, it's a lot easier get a smooth and full sound when you play solo or lead a band.

Traditional 12-fret assembly provides added punch and natural acoustic projection

Back before the days of affordable sound reinforcement, an instrument had to rely on its own acoustic projection to fill the air with music, competing with the chatter of the audience and the sound of people dancing and having fun. Under these circumstances the big-bodied and highly resonant dreadnought shape of the AVD1 was a natural evolution, as was its 12-fret design. You see, by joining the body at the twelfth fret rather than the fourteenth, the AVD1's soundboard ends up more or less centered on its top, causing the whole top to vibrate a lot like a speaker cone. Take a look through Sweetwater's Guitar Gallery, and you'll find few acoustic guitars as loud as the AVD1.

Artwood Vintage series delivers timeless acoustic guitar vibe with modern playability
