60W Tube Combo w/ Eight Analog Amp Circuits

Throw out what you know about modeling amps! The 60-watt Vox Analog Valve combo delivers real tube grit and dynamic response from twin 12AX7s in the preamp and power amp stages. Choose from eight all-analog preamp circuits based on classic amps from Vox and others for tones that range from clean chime to high-gain crunch; then blend in analog-styled delay, chorus, or reverb to taste. A Power Level control lets you dial back wattage on the fly to capture the perfect stage of tube breakup for each song. A sealed cab with a custom 12" Vox speaker provides powerful bass, making the Vox AV60 not just a travel-friendly practice companion, but also a good-sounding, vintage-looking combo for the stage and studio.

Full Vox, less box

The Vox Analog Valve series packs decades of amp tones into a practice-friendly, stage-ready combo. Eight classic amp models with convincing onboard FX give the AV60 a full complement of clean, dirty, crunchy, and overdriven tones. Bright and Fat switches provide some instant oomph or sheen to help your parts cut through a mix. And a switchable Bias control lets you choose between modern and vintage tube response. Sweetwater guitarists applaud Vox for packing the AV60 combo with tube characteristics and a user-friendly layout.

Vox AV60 Combo

First I'd like to thank my Sales Rep Delvin Wolfe. He did a great job explaining the amp and it's features and workings to me! Delivery was FAST and no damage when it arrived! I use this unit for Live situations. I used it out for the first time last weekend and it performed perfectly both nights and sounded Fantastic! I also purchased the VFS-5 Footswitch which is a Must in my opinion. It switches channels and turns On and Off the Effects one at a time like using individual pedals. The other option is the VFS-2A Footswitch which switches Channels but turns ALL Effects On or Off AT THE SAME TIME. I've been working out as a musician for 51yrs doing Clubs and Touring, having used A LOT of amps over the years (mostly Tube Amps) this Vox AV60 Combo fits the bill for me being 64 and looking for an amp that was very good sounding and light to load in and load out. The Effects are good enough for me to stop carrying my Pedal Board and that's a lot less hassle for me too. The blue light that's put off by the Tubes and Effects designations are not too bright as one reviewer stated, in my opinion and I can get a very nice Clean sound from the 2x12 setting. Another reviewer stated he couldn't get a Clean sound from the unit and I imagine he was running the Gain on the Channel higher than the Volume. This is just common sense in my opinion, if you don't want distortion don't run the Gain higher than the Volume. Any amp will distort if run that way no matter what configuration of power it is! The stock Vox speaker sounds good and I can't see changing it out for another at this time. I researched this amp for a long time before I purchased it and found it was the best for my requirements as I use it to play mostly Classic Rock and some Blues. The combination of the Tubes in the Pre-amp and Power Sections give it a warm Tube like sound while still having the reliability of the Analog Solid State Power. It does take about 30-40 seconds for the Tubes to warm up but that's a given with any Tube. As Vox has stated it cleans up nicely using your Guitar Volume Control as long as you're not using one of the High Gain settings. I used the Power Level at half and didn't have a problem with drums or other instruments over powering me. I only see a few slight problems with the Amp. 1 - Vox needs to switch the Footswitch and Input Jacks as the Footswitch Jack got in the way of the Instrument Cable a few times (not a big deal). Reversing the positions would correct this problem. 2 - There might not be enough Power to work a Large Stage. I'd like to see a 100w version and maybe this is in the works, I don't know but it would be nice. As most know Solid State Power of any kind doesn't sound as Loud as Tube Power does. 3 - It would be nice to have a Vox Dust Cover available for the Amp. It seems most manufacturer's these days don't offer a Dust Cover for their Amps. All in all I'm extremely satisfied with this Amp, the advise from Delvin and service from Sweetwater Sound! I look forward to many Great Gigs with the Vox AV60 Combo!!

Nice amp

When I did my research on the type of amp I wanted, this amp stood out by a long shot. For my needs and wants, this fit like a glove. When I decided to finally purchase it, I looked around to see what others say about the larger online stores. I had the purchase down to Sweetwater or GC. The amp wasn't on sale at either site but the friendly service at SAweetwater sold me. Thanks to my sales associate for listening to my old rock n' roll stories and still pleasant to deal with on the sale. My business is Sweetwater first, then anywhere else. Ron

GREAT SOUNDING AMP!! Effects are good enough to allow me to get rid of several pedals. This amp teamed with my Wampler overdrive has allowed me to stop looking for a tone. I GOT IT NOW!!

Great Amp!!!!!!!

Great sounding amp! Easy to get up and running. Controls very simple to use. It sounds very warm for a hybrid amp, not too shallow like most others. My sales engineer Mike Godlove was very knowledgeable and professional. Highly recommend him. Six out of five stars for Vox, Sweetwater, and Mike. Many thanks!

Great Versatile Amp

Great sounding amp. It has the warm tone and touch of a real tube amp. It has awesome cleans, great tone at the edge of breaking up and the over driven tones are spot on. I own several types of guitars and they all translate wonderfully with this amp. Plenty of power and I love the vintage vibe it carries with it. This amp is worth your consideration.

Sweetwater Advice

Will Crisp

I love the character of tube amplifiers, but I also enjoy the versatility of solid-state modeling. The Vox AV60 gives me both, which makes it a special kind of amp. A pair of 12AX7s provides organic tube dynamics and warmth. The different preamp circuits let me totally control the feel of the amp too. I play a lot of different music styles, and it's great to be able to switch from a blues crunch to metal leads, depending on what I need to play next. And for as light as it is, this amp can easily get as loud as I need it to be.
