Best in its price range
This unit is the best at its price point, hands down. I"ve been singing with these for the past four years, two to four shows a week, different venues every time, has never failed me once. Simple to use and cristal clear audio.
Some people complain about the ear phones, which honestly do come out of the ear fairly easily, but still these are dual driver ear phones, which you will not find as easily in similar priced packages. Simply get the foam sleeves and your good to go.
No ear fatigue
I'm very happy with my purchase of the M2. The bassist, vocalist, and I now can hear ourselves beautifully, and we have become a tighter band. We don't have ear ringing after practice. Saving my hearing is worth the price of the unit.
We are running the M2 in mix mode. I have set it up as the vocalists preferred mix (dry with her vocals very forward) and my preferred mix ( slightly wet with our vocals even and my guitar more pronounced.) our bassist has his belt pack set somewhere between the mixes. We wouldn't normally have to mic our drummer, but with a good seal in the ear, we needed it. We have an overhead, the snare and bass drum mic'ed.
I didn't not like the included in ear monitors, but had planned on buying something better ( the vocalist and I went with Westone UM20s. The bassist is using my Shure SE215s. Both sets are better than the included headphones by a decent margin, with the Westones sounding clearer.)
Originally, we were running one mono mix for everyone, which was fine, but once we started to do the blended mix, we really saw the benefit of the M2.
AT-M2
I sing with a southern gospel trio and we have always used wedges for monitors. We have a mono IEM, but that was not suitable for all members of the group. The Audio-Technica M2 is a stereo IEM. Two of us prefer the two sources in both ears, while the other one wants a true stereo, music left and voices right. The M2 has dip switches in the receiver to get the sound we all want. The receiver also has a volume control as well as pan control. I believe this was a good choice and did not break the bank either. The ear buds sound good as well. The sound is clear and we have not had any interference with other devices. My sales rep suggested the L band as regulations are restricting other choices.
Bang for the Buck
Your definitely paying for the reciever unit in this price. The ear buds are not worth squat!! They distort and you can't get enough volume out of them. Not to mention they are not comfortable and will not stay in without some foam manipulation work. If you purchase the unit, realize you will have to purchase what will cost you another chunk of change, more ear buds, perferably ones that can handle the preasure and fit more custom.
