GREAT Sounding Earphones!

We purchased several of these as soon as they were available to convert our stage from speaker monitors to IEM's. So far, we're very pleased, especially for the price. They have just excellent sound quality, fit quite comfortably with the included different size pads, and seem to be built wtih quality and durability in mind. They're definitely professional grade, but not so outrageously priced that they couldn't be replaced if something went wrong. Depending on your user's experience, it can be a little difficult to get used to using them. For some of our people, it was a little hard to learn how to put them in properly, as they are designed to fit in the ear one way only. They work great when worn properly, but sound dead if not. That's not a flaw, though; just a heads up to be prepared to teach people the difference between popping in mediocre sounding universal earbuds and properly using great sounding professional earphones. That said, the jury is still out on their wearability for now. Some users love them, while some have had issues getting them to stay positioned properly. We haven't had them long enough to determine if it's a design flaw or users just need to get more used to them yet, though.

Defective or ??

I've owned a lot of AT (and Signet) gear over the years and have generally been very pleased with their equipment. I have wanted to get a decent, reasonably priced set of IEM's so when I saw these I thought I'd give them a go.They are indeed physically large/bulky and they took a bit of fiddling around to get them into my ears. My original plans included getting ear molds made for a custom fit. When I finally got them hooked up and running, I found them simply painful to listen to. They were strident and shrill and had little low end response. I was listening to a live recording and the applause at the end was painful even at moderate volume. Compared to a set of Sony earbuds and two different Sennheiser headphones I have these clearly sounded un-natural. Since I can't return them to Sweetwater, I returned them to Audio-Technica service to let them see if there was something 'wrong' with my set. I think it would be odd to have both the left and right units have nearly the same 'defect' though. I'll bet curious what the AT response is.

Was very disappointed with these. Honestly, these sound the same as the earbuds I was using before, and they're even less comfortable--even after changing tip sizes and wearing them how the manual shows. They are not flat whatsoever, with a huge 2-3k boost, which I assume performing musicians might like but definitely not suitable for mixing. Also disappointed that you can't return earphones or I would've already done so with these.
