Ibanez Andy Timmons Signature AT10P - Sunburst Reviews

Solidbody Electric Guitar with Alder Body, Maple Neck, Maple Fingerboard, 2 Single-coil Pickups, 1 Humbucking Pickup, and Vibrato - Sunburst

The Ibanez AT10P Andy Timmons Signature solidbody electric guitar is all about tone, feel, and speed. Andy is a player's player, a guitarist who makes every note count. The Andy Timmons Signature gives you a comfortable alder RG body and a Timmons-profile Prestige neck with a maple fingerboard and 22 jumbo frets. Succulent tone comes courtesy of a full-size Timmons-spec DiMarzio humbucker at the bridge, plus two Cruiser Bridge pups that deliver single-coil spank without the noise. And for your vibrato pleasure, a Wilkinson WV6-SB vibrato bridge completes the Ibanez AT10P Andy Timmons Signature axe.

upgrade on this guitar

By Larry Riedell from grafton, wisconsin on October 5, 2017

this is a very good guitar!! if you want to make it a lot better, change the bridge to a gotoh vsvg thats on the at100cl model, & go to a bone nut!! what a difference ! tons of sustain ! clearer tone all the way around. save yourself about a grand. i also installed a set of hipshot looking tuners. these upgrades make this a killer guitar. don't forget, buy it from sweet water. they are the best in the country.. ask for Zack Garrison.

Excellet Guitar

I was blown away by the looks and sound of this guitar. I own other axes, some costing twice as much as this, but this is my baby now. The dimensions of this guitar are built around the Wilkinson SB bridge, which is a Direct Replacement for Fender Strat bridges. With that in mind you can figure out that the neck is the same width as a Fender Strat, not as wide as my Ibanez Jem Wizard neck. The back of the neck is fat and round like the one on 60th Anniversary 1954 Fender Strat reissue, but the fretboard is practically FLAT (vs the 7.5’ radius of the ’54 strat Thank God !). The DiMarzio Pickups have a nice chime, they sound beautiful to me, with enough vintage blues flavor, but the bridge humbucker provides more crunch when needed. I’m installing GOTOH locking tuners (vintage oval style) like the ones currently found on the AT100. The guitar was perfectly set for D’Addario 10-46 strings, thanks to Sweetwater 55 point inspection. I use Elixir 9-42 strings so I measured the bridge gap to set it for 9’s myself.

First of all the tremolo can be tightened all you have to do is put the bar in Push It Forward down towards the body and there is a little Allen screw back there that you use your little allen wrench with to tighten the bar. That is for you rock amazing

ROCK'AMAZING!

By Caleb Taulbee from Guthrie, OK on January 26, 2017

I've waited a full 6months to do this review because I wanted to make sure the honeymoon was over...or so I though! This guitar just gets better and better! It is so VERSATILE! I use this in a Christian Worship band and i can't be happier. Its a dream with all my pedals (especially my JHS@Andy Timmons ( wink wink ) and is very responsive to my HD500x that I only use for amp modeling.

I have a couple issues with the guitar that are more cosmetic than anything. 1st the top strap pen is right on the top horn. This makes my strap (especially with my dunlop strap locks) hang weird. almost like the the guitar was meant to be worn like you are carrying a rifle ..if that makes sense?!? LOL. 2nd issue as mentioned in other reviews the fingering in the first position is really tight...and I have small hands and my fingers still feel crunched in that first couple frets. 3rd issue is the Tremelo Bar...it just slides in the hole. There is no way to tighten it so it just hangs there loosely...still sounds good but I would have at least like the option of tightening it one revolution or so I don't have to reach back so far to grab it.

ALL THAT SAID....I gave this guitar a 5 Star rating because...literally every time I play it I fall more in love with it!

Ibanez AT10PSB

By Mark Bordwell from Aberdeen, NC on April 29, 2016

I purchased this guitar as a DEMO with the idea I could upgrade the Tremolo to the AT100CL version. Throw on some locking tuners and have my Guitar Tech cut a Bone Nut or install a Compensated Nut and basically be close to the AT100CL all while saving a few bucks. The money I saved by purchasing a DEMO and the upgrades balances out quite nicely, and now I have another great guitar. I would have to agree with others that the neck is one of the best appointments on this guitar. However, I believe this guitar stands alone by taking a classic body and adding a wonderful neck and extremely cool pickups and electronics. Excellent playability and after adjusting pickup heights able to coax out some beautiful tones. Now, the only thing left to do is to play, play and play until I can really PLAY. Peace!! Thanks Andy for helping to guide Ibanez in creating this instrument, and Thanks to Matt at Sweetwater for all your hard work. Sweetwater is at the top of their game!!

nice guitar after setup

By larry riedell from wisconsin on October 5, 2016

this is a quality guitar, but needs to be setup properly! this one wasn't . i usually do this anyway, this was for my daughter. I'm surprised , the frets were filthy, neck was not adjusted , action was too high, & the strings were shot. it didn't play well at all. anyway, i set it all up , polished the frets, leveled the fretboard, adjusted the neck, @ restrung it with new 10-s set the action & it plays great . don't know why this wasn't done, usually sweetwater is good about their setups. not a problem, i would have done all of this anyway before i gave it to her. i thank zach garrison once again for the great service, & price. this is an outstanding music store. thanks to all. larry

Review Ibanez AT10P Andy Timmons Signature - Sunburst

By Talmadge on August 3, 2015

Poorly made guitar for the price.won't stay in tune, and the set up was bad. It came with broken electronics that somehow got by the 5 point check system Sweet water has?) Had to fix that!. So after setting it up with 9.5 strings... locking tuners... and a real pick guard.(These are crap!) For the price, i say buy something else!
