Get Yourself Ready to Play Out Onstage!

The Yamaha APX500 is about three things: great sound, a smooth playing feel, and an eye-catching style! This thinline acoustic-electric guitar features a built-in tuner and a piezo pickup system, so you can plug it in at the coffeehouse and get natural acoustic sound through the PA speakers. The spruce top and nato body help the Yamaha APX500 pump out great tone even when you're playing unplugged too. There are multiple color options available, so you can find the Yamaha APX500 that best fits you.

Yamaha APX500 6-string Acoustic-electric Guitar at a Glance:
  • A stylish, thin body so it fits right up close to your body
  • The piezo pickup system means you can plug in and record or play onstage

A stylish, thin body so it fits right up close to your body
The Yamaha APX500 is considered a "thinline" acoustic-electric guitar. The thinline descriptions means the APX500's body has a thinner profile that fits up close to your body, so it's easy and comfortable to play. A thinner body, though, doesn't mean the APX500 isn't thick on great sound. It features a spruce top, a nato body and neck, and a rosewood fingerboard and bridge — this one sounds great unplugged.

The piezo pickup system means you can plug in and record or play onstage
Of course, when you do want to plug in your Yamaha APX500, you'll be ready. It has a piezo pickup system, which helps to give it a truly realistic, natural acoustic voice when it's pumping through a PA system. Another cool touch: you've got an onboard tuner, so you can always get your APX500 right in tune.

Yamaha APX500 6-string Acoustic-electric Guitar Features:
  • Finish: Natural
  • Top: Spruce
  • Back and Sides: Nato
  • Neck: Nato
  • Fingerboard: Rosewood
  • Bridge: Rosewood
  • Tuners: Die-cast Chrome
  • Electronics: System 66 with 1-way pieze pickup, onboard tuner, and 3-band EQ
The Yamaha APX500 is a great first acoustic guitar for anyone interested in playing out onstage!

Excellent Instrument Great Value

Called Mr Matt Masek and asked a few questions about this little beauty an ordered it that same day. I have quite a few acoustic guitars and collecting them is a sickness of mine and the only cure is more guitar. What I like about this instrument is that It's ready to record in a moments notice no mics or prep needed just plug it in and let it rip. I write instrumental tracks for film and tv and this little jem has been a great inspiration for the last two weeks or so, I can't stop picking it up and playing it. I like the built in tuner and the nice even tone I get from its under-saddle transducer, very nice! Thanks Matt, hope to see you at Gear Fest this year.

SweetWater is the way to go!!

I got this because deeper dreadnaught style guitars hurt my shoulder blade. This guitar is perfect for me. Although it does not have a deep bassy boom the sound is lucid and clear. The finish is beautiful and even the oval soundhole is growing on me. I would recommend Sweetwater to any player. Free shipping took less than 7 days!

Yamaha apx500 iii

Like usual Sweetwater sent me a great guitar set up very nicely with quick shipping and great service . That's why I buy from Jeff at Sweetwater and will continue to buy from Sweetwater. They actually care if I'm happy with my purchase. The guitar cannot be beat for the price and I can certainly say I will purchase another Yamaha guitar . Thanks Sweetwater !!

WORTH THE MONEY!!!

Hey everybody, I just got this guitar today (it is replacing my Morgan Monroe Journeyman......so it had a lot to live up to) and've put it through it's paces. Tuning stays strong even after a few hours of jamming. The tuner is simple and precise. The electronics ( onboard EQ, volume levels, and AMF settings/levels) I ran flat through my studio monitors sans any effects, and the tone, sustain, harmonics, and overall sound was very good....especially for a more thin bodied guitar!! I did need to adjust the neck with the provided allan wrench, which has a longer short end than mostt (which is very helpful in not having to hit the sound hole while adjusting) in order to drop the action for best playability. But when I did, it played like a Gibson Hummingbird in my opinion with NO fret buzz and perfect intonation!!! I have smaller hands but after the adjustment this neck is great for me!! For the $300 I spent, I believe I got an instrument worth $600-$800 in my opinion. I advise anyone thinking of purchasing this guitar to do so!! Don't spend more if you can get darn good for less!!!!!!!
