A stylish, thin body so it fits right up close to your body

The Yamaha APX500III is considered a "thinline" acoustic-electric guitar. The thinline description means the APX500III's body has a thinner profile that fits up close to your body, so it's easy and comfortable to play. A thinner body, though, doesn't mean the APX500III isn't thick on great sound. It features a spruce top, a nato body and neck, and a rosewood fingerboard and bridge - this one sounds great unplugged!

Carefully selected tonewoods offer value and great tone

Built from the mahogany-esque tonewood nato, the Yamaha APX500III 6-string acoustic-electric guitar manages to pack some awesome meaty midrange into its sleek, comfortable body without racking up a huge price tag. Of course, the APX500III's spruce top frames the nato's warmth with a bright, robust sound that's perfect for nearly any playing style. Rounded out with a nato neck and rosewood fingerboard, the APX500III is a great-sounding acoustic-electric guitar!

System 55T electronics deliver stellar amplified sound

Although the Yamaha APX500III 6-string acoustic-electric guitar sounds great on its own, you'll also be pleasantly surprised by its "plugged in" tone. Armed with a 1-way piezo pickup system and a System 55T preamp, you can expect clean, natural tone every time you hit the stage with this excellent acoustic-electric guitar. The APX500III also gives you an onboard tuner and an extremely musical 3-band EQ, both housed on its slick black control panel.

Yamaha APX500III 6-string Acoustic-electric Guitar Features:
  • Comfortable thinline body fits right up close to your body
  • Nato and spruce tonewoods offer value and great tone
  • System 55T electronics deliver stellar amplified sound
  • Nato neck with rosewood fingerboard offers comfortable playability
  • Die-cast chrome tuners keep you in tune

Great guitar for the price

I'm a full-time music pastor who generally leads from the piano but switches to guitar on occasion. What attracted me to the APX500III was the thin profile and general comfortable playability of the guitar (it's light and feels, to me, easy to play). After putting it through it's paces in the context of a typical Sunday service (we have a full band and vocal team), I'm pleased to say that the pickup system on the guitar sounds great through our system. It's crystal clear, and it's easy to make micro adjustments so that my guitar sat really well in the overall mix. I'm glad I bought this guitar! I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a solid electric/acoustic at this price point.

Not a $300 Guitar!

I'm a keyboard player by trade but have dabbled/performed with an acoustic guitar for about seven(ish) years. My first "real" guitar was an Ovation that I really liked till someone dropped it on the butt-end and it cracked up through the bridge. Then I inherited a 1990 Guild GF-55 that I consider the best sounding acoustic guitar I have ever heard - even putting it up against Martin and Taylor but I'm scared to death taking the Guild on a gig - so I needed another guitar that I wouldn't mind so much it getting scratched or tossed around - basically a cheap guitar that would sound good running through the PA system. I came across this Yamaha APX500III - first of all the Dusk Red color - it is awesome! Then I played it... right out of the box, tuned it up and it felt great - it didn't need any type of adjustment. The action is perfect - no fret buzz anywhere on the neck. Now the acoustic tone... okay, it's thin body so don't expect a jumbo big bodied acoustic sound as it's bright, a little "middy" but absolutely doesn't sound cheap - sounds just as good as my Ovation but plays a lot better. I got to perform with it they other night at a gig - plugged into the PA - the pickup is awesome! Plenty of headroom on the volume, the EQ is very responsive and sounded like big-bodied guitar in the FOH speakers. If you're looking for a really good looking guitar with excellent action and great electronics, I highly suggest this YamahaAPX500III. Oh! Shipping was incredibly fast, as always with Sweetwater and I promptly received a thank you call/email from Ray Leach - great guy and excellent sales!
