Electro-Harmonix Analogizer Preamp / EQ / Tone Shaping Pedal Reviews

Analog Saturation and Boost Stompbox with Spread Control and Gain Boost

The Electro-Harmonix Analogizer analog saturation/boost pedal is your cure for lackluster tone. The Analogizer's analog circuit path is designed to sound like the front end of a vibrant analog delay pedal, just without the long delay times. A shorter delay time (3.5ms to 65ms) is used to make subtle tonal variations or thicken up your sound. You also get up to 26dB of boost to hype your signal further. The real magic of the Analogizer is its ability to add body and glow to any signal you run through it. It's great for beefing up your tone, but it truly excels at the end of a chain of effects pedals, especially digital effects. The Analogizer analog saturation/boost pedal will add some magic to your tone!

Great Pedal with Several Possibilities...

By J. Taylor from LOUISVILLE, KY on December 9, 2022

I bought this to run after a Boss GX-100 processor before going unto the effects loop of a tube amp. I think it really makes a difference in fattening up the digital signal, works really well for what I wanted it to do. I've also used it as an overdrive pedal in front of the amp, and it works really well for that as well...some interesting sounds can be made using the Blend knob. Thanks again to Austin @ Sweetwater for another great purchase!

Stratocasters like it.

By John from Felton on July 5, 2022

The ebony fretboard Strat loves this thing.
Mellow upon mellow.

The maple Strat is dreamy sounding instead of face melting, very cool.

Interesting pedal with lots of tonal possibilities

By Lawrence Durgasingh on February 23, 2022

After playing with this pedal for the past month or so, I feel like I've barely scratched the surface of the tonal possibilities. I use it for bass guitar, and at first I kept the gain cranked and used it for an overdrive sound. However the more I play with the blend controls and use the spread to further shape the tone, I find that you can really change the voice of the bass to the point where it almost sounds like you're using a different bass guitar altogether.

Very interesting pedal, if you're a bassist who wants a way to try out different tones/voices for your bass guitar I think you owe it to yourself to give this pedal a shot.

Anologizer

Added new life, to my 14 pedal board. Just what I was looking for.

Sweet! As you would expect from Electro Harmonix

A tone similar to the EH LPB1 but with more tone shaping controls.Works really well in conjunction with the LPB1 for a nice pallet of gain and saturation controls. Can get a really warm milky tone when cranked up. The spread is like a slapback delay. Through my 79 MKII Marshall the spread just gives it a boxy, out of phase slap back that I don't like. Kind of a cement basement quality. Although I'm sure I can find a good use for it in the recording realm. Overall a super awesome pedal that I see using in my signal chain for every recording and live application with guitar. I can see using it on voice and other instruments as well!

Analogizer Rocks

By Sweetwater Customer from Ft. Lauderdale, FL on May 3, 2012

Got this to get rid of the 'fizzies' from my POD HD400- does a terrific job of smoothing things out. Great way to keep the warmth of analog alive and kicking! If you play through a digital product, then you need to add this to your arsenal!

Decent Boost

By Zak R. from Rockledge, FL USA on January 12, 2012 Music Background: Student, P&W 2 services a week

I expected a lot from this boost, and it definitely lived up to my expectations. theres a whole lot of muscle in this little pedal, and the double tracking effect is very cool. my only complaint is that it's a bit noisier than other boost pedals that i've used. I'll probably replace it in the near future, but i don't think i'll ever get rid of it.

lofi dirty and delay

By Sweetwater Customer from LA on November 10, 2023

This pedal has dirt, a short delay, and that's it. You can create a slap-back or a faux-reverb with or without some dirt or you can make some lo-fi dirt that isn't what I would call responsive to playing dynamics but it'll clean up a little if you roll off the volume. You lose some low-end and presence with this pedal on. It'll make your sound smeared or subtly muddy.

It definitely doesn't warm anything up or make it sound less digital.

I run mine in-front of a cab sim in front of a keyboard amp or PA and use this pedal like an amp sim.

My tone has improved a bit so I'd say it's worth it.
