Vintage look and tone for rock and indie music

Hollowbody basses are back in a big way. The Artcore Vintage bass's soft-edged wooly tones work well for classic rock 'n' roll of the '50s-70s, and when overdriven, make a great pairing for modern indie rock and shoegaze alternative. A singlecut hollowbody design with F-holes gives the Artcore Vintage a timeless look and cuts down on weight for a comfortable instrument with a mellow tone signature and vintage vibe.

Quality construction with an affordable price tag

The Artcore Vintage bass has bold features for a hollowbody in this price range: a set neck made from 3 pieces of maple and mahogany gives your low end immediate sustain with articulation to carry to the back row; a reduced all-maple body warms up your tone and smooths out your high end, still with enough clarity to cut through a mix.

Distressed satin finish has gig-ready appeal

The worn look is in. The Artcore Vintage bass saves you the cost of paying a specialist to nick your finish and soak your hardware without voiding your warranty. This helps to convey authority to your audience, and saves you the embarrassment of getting caught playing rock music with a factory-new instrument.

Ibanez Artcore Vintage Hollowbody Bass Features:
  • Soft-edged tones for classic rock to pop
  • Distressed finish with antique chrome hardware adds authority to your stage presence
  • Maple top, back, and sides for warmth and projection
  • 3-piece maple/mahogany set neck for brightness and sustain
  • Rosewood fingerboard with fret binding and dot inlays
  • Classic Elite pickups deliver warm, full tones
  • Adjustable Artcore Custom 5 bridge

Love This Bass!

This is quickly becoming my go-to bass, especially when playing in close quarters. I've been playing bass for more than 40 years, and I learned my craft on a short-scale hollow body Vox Cougar. In my expansive stable of bass guitars, I own only one other 5-string: a 35 inch scale Lakland. It's a gorgeous insrument, but it fights me over every inch. This baby, however, is friendly, even compliant. My two concerns were that it would be a nose-diver and that it would sound TOO hollow. Neither concern proved true. It is nicely balanced and the tone is rich and warm but not a hint of echo or feedback. The two pups work well together, not in competition. I put a set of Rotosound 77 flatwounds on it and the vintage sound it perfect. Best of all, this thing is fun to play. These basses are already getting hard to find, so grab one when the opportunity comes along.

Nice Short Scale Fiver

this is a solid bass..short scale 5er.....it is very well made and has very good sustain and mass.....I have done some minor set up stuff.....the 145-55's are a bit heavy for this instrument especially the B and E strings...there was a bit of after buzzing on the B string...so I raised the bridge and it made both the B and the E string cleaner.....I am use to my fretless bass so my fretted let offs are a bit rattley (sp).....the bass has made me a bit more precise on the fretless...and is very good strengthening my left hand.....the tone is a shade thin compared to my fretless...more of a classic fender sound...just a bit thinner....the instrument sits well strapped up and has fairly nice overall balance.....moderately compressed to heavy compression gives this bass a very deep sustained sound....perfect for the music I play....... my plan was to pull the frets and make this bass fretless...but the more I play this..... the better I like it.. I was looking for another medium to short scale fretless when I saw this short scale 5er.... I had ordered an emola 34" scale fretless 5er...that never showed up.... after months of waiting and reordering I decided to purchase this bass..and honestly I am glad I did.....the finish on this is so perfect and yet soooooooooo distressed.....like an old friend I just met.....for the first time....I do believe I am going to replace the B and E strings to see how they sound....all in all this instrument is the perfect answer to those wishing a short scale 5er....great sound...great finish...very nice fast neck..

Ibanez Artcore Vintage 5-String Bass - Tobacco Burst

I fell in love with the looks of this bass the first time I saw it. As a pro player and teacher I have to admit that I was skeptical of the low price, but I pulled the trigger anyway, on a demo unit. The short scale had me concerned as well because I have pretty long arms and I just don't play short scale instruments usually. Anyway, I put a set of D'Addario Chrome Flatwounds on it and took to a gig last night. It sounded great! We were playing mostly old Motown hits and the bass was perfect for that material. Any concerns I had about the short scale, etc. went away as I enjoyed the big fat sound of this instrument. Ibanez has done a great job with this bass. I would highly recommend it.
