Great Tone

Super impressed with the tone, the quietness and overall response. I installed myself with the included diagram. Bueno!

Great pickups--powerful, even, noise-free

I'll spare you the details of my failed effort to fix the noise on my Geddy Lee Jazz Bass with shielding tape--suffice it to say that I found myself in need of some replacement pickups. I had never really been happy with the stock pickups anyway. After considering some other noiseless models, and active systems, I decided to get this set of Aguilar hum-canceling pickups at the recommendation of my Sweetwater Sales Engineer. I had them installed by my local luthier (along with the shielding tape that I was too inept to install on my own), and I'm very pleased. These pickups have given my instrument the life and noise-free power that was looking for. I don't find them to color the tone in any noticeable way, which is good for me--I prefer to do that with my preamp/pedals. But I can say I love the clean sound of this bass, directly plugged into my amp, and I'd be more than happy to play that way if I only needed a clean tone. These pickups give me an even, clear, solid signal, across all of the strings, with no more hum. I'd purchase again, and definitely recommend these pickups.

Better than Great

I am a big fan of Aguilar products in general but I have never tried their pick-ups before. After a frustrating bout with another set of defective pick-ups I decided to gives these a try. After they were installed by my luthier I got home and plugged into my practice amp and was not blown away with the sound, they seemed a little too clean for my tastes, but I was so wrong. In a band and live setting these destroy the room, they are clean, warm and sit in the mix wonderfully. I highly recommend these if you want more clarity and still want to maintain pretty close to the single coil sound.
