    The best 25-key MIDI Controller

This is the first and only small keyboard controller I've found that has the stability and heft necessary for live performance. Other controllers I've tried are light plastic boxes that jiggle around during play with cheap unstable controls that tend to malfunction and reset during performance. The buttons and dials on the Arturia are very stable and a shift key prevents the disasterous consequence an equipment reset due to the performer accidently brushing a knob or slider in the middle of a performance. Though the keyboard is not weighted the Arturia's heavy case makes for a better feel and is much less prone to squirming around on a table or stand during play. If you are tired of cheap plastic boxes then this professional controller is the answer.

    perfect for my needs

i've owned some arturia products over the past few years and have been impressed by the sound quality of the presets and ability to modify patches for a particular sound. i bought the player setup to use as a midi controller for an analog synth setup that i'm creating, so i needed a controller that had midi outs, but wanted something that could be flexible enough to use on occasions, when i was hooked up to a computer. for the price and quality, there really was no competition. my only beef with the player is that considering my intended use, the fact that it doesn't come with a power supply means that you have to go out and buy your own. the problem is that in arturia's manual specs and online, they fail to tell you which size adapter you need, since radio shack and most other suppliers of p.s.' now only sell them with exchangeable tips. i searched all over the web, and even inquired with arturia (though no response), but instead, just brought the keyboard down to radio shack and fit several different tips until i decided to use type "m", which is a 2.1mm tip (type "L" and "N" also fit, but i didn't buy them, so i don't know if they actually work). most users will never need to know this, since they'll probably be using it via usb, but for those that do need to know, that's the information you're looking for.

    Cool little throw back

Nice, I use it with my laptop and Ableton Live 8 for coffee house productions. Very sturdy and the wood give it a classic throw back of the 70's. Software OK some setting sounds could be smoother, but for the price it a no brainer.....

    cons
    could use auto map updates
