Ibanez AEB10E - Dark Violin Sunburst High Gloss Reviews
Acoustic low end! If you love the sound of an unplugged acoustic bass guitar but also need to plug in with the band, then you'll love what the Ibanez AEB10E bass does for you. This beautiful 4-string bass delivers great tones, whether you're plucking unplugged or plugging into its built-in Fishman electronics. You can dial in an incredible range of bass sounds, with this system's easy-to-use controls. Ibanez built the AEB10E from the ground up to perform; its spruce top/mahogany body construction gives you excellent projection, plenty of detail, and incredible tonal balance. The AEB10E is very comfortable to play too!

Excellent Bass, even when compared to the high dollar brands.
I've played bass for over 40 years. My main ax is a 69 Fender Precision. I purchased this bass (in all black, does not appear to available in all black anymore) three years ago. Before purchasing I played a Taylor GS a Fender Kingman a Breedlove a Godin A4 and even a Martin BCPA4. I was not impressed with the way any of these played or sounded right off the rack. In fact the Martin and the Fender were un-playable. To me that's important and shows the true nature of the guitar. I saw the Ibanez and the reviews were surprisingly good… If it's a piece of junk I'll send it back. The AEB10E played excellent right out of the box. No string buzz, the action was almost perfect and the sound was as good and in some cases better than any bass I had previously played. There was a slight intonenation problem on the E string at the 12th fret but that was easily corrected. The fit and finish were as nice as any bass I had seen and the Fishman electronics were state of the art. I could not have been happier then or now. ...well worth the price.
What a great sounding bass
I just can't get over the sound of this Ibanez acoustic bass. I was blown away. Right out of the box this bass was ready to play. The action and intonation were set up perfect. It sounds fantastic. Hats off once again to my salesman, Aaron Cieslikowski, and the Sweetwater crew.
Very surprised!
I've had this bass for a week now. Got it to take to acoustic jams. I'm amazed at the low end acoustically and plugged-in, it's a monster!
Acoustic Bass
This was purchased as a gift and the recipient was totally thrilled!
Great product for beginner
First of all, I would like to thank Sweetwater and their great team that they have. This will probably seem more like a rating for Sweetwater than it is for the product, but that is going to come. David provided excellent customer service. Their sales personnel will take the time to talk with you about the product you are getting ready to order and answer your questions to the best of their knowledge. I love the fact that your product goes through an inspection process and then shipped with care. This is the way everyone should do business Sweetwater and I thank you! Now to the product.
This product is great for a beginner like myself. I just started using it today and I love it. It comes with a built in tuner that is part of the electronics. It is light and feels good to hold. It sounds good enough for me as I am going to use it to practice without having to plug in my electric bass. Now I am not going to say that this is definitely a 5 star product because I feel that a beginner has no place to make these claims. If you have played bass for a while, this product is probably not for you. This is due to the fact that it seems cheap-built and can sound better, but I may be wrong. Take my review with a grain of salt.
If you are a beginner looking for an inexpensive acoustic bass, then look no further. For those looking for something that sounds better and built better, then I recommend spending a little more money for something else.
Best in Class
This is a great acoustic bass for the price. I have tested or acoustic basses from other brands and the Ibanez ABE10E was the best sounding one I have found.
Nice Guitar
I had the opportunity to play some of the other acoustic basses in this price point in a live setting with full P.A. and none could touch the tone of the AEB10. I have played it live and could not be happier with the playability and tone. Unplugged it doesn't project all that well but the mandolin player will not drown you out. Yeah the action is a little high, but that suits my playing style. Overall you get a spruce top, nice binding work, and the sunburst looks much better in person. If you need an acoustic bass for when the gig calls for it, at this price point ,I recommend it.
Dodgy Electronics
I own an AEB10BK. Had it for a couple of years. The thing has been cutting in in out (a really slow, gradual fade) but I was using it acoustically and it didn't matter. Needed it work, so I take it into the shop and there's three (3) of the things, all waiting for preamps. At $165 to $265 a throw, the Fishburn II electronics aren't worth the trouble. Unless they've done something with the electronics in the last couple of years, I'd steer clear.
