This EQ Gets the Job Done

NOTE: This product requires an iLok (not included) for authorization. Please call your Sweetwater Sales Engineer if you have questions.

The McDSP AE400 Active EQ native plug-in is an advanced equalizer that's ideal for music, post production, and live sound. The AE400 gives you four overlapping bands of fixed and active EQ. Each band has its own Q, fixed gain, and active gain controls. A key filter for each band lets you tweak the active gain response to be as selective or broad as you want, based on the bandwidth (Q) control. Individual bands can use the input signal or selected sidechain signal to trigger the active EQ response. Whether you've got complex material or subtle audio touch ups, McDSP AE400 native gets the job done.

Great tool to control undessired resonances

It has help me a lot in removing resonances from vocal and accoustic guitar mics tracks
4.5/5

This IS the trick

The plugin does exactly what I wanted. Try it on individual tracks. Put it across the 2 bus to give the mix that "trick" you have been looking for. AE400 stands in a class of its own. Think of this as a reactive EQ that will help get things to fit in the mix, or to stand out, or both. It is clean and I am hard pressed to find any phase issues. Download the demo and give it a try. Soon enough you will find yourself buying it from the guys at Sweetwater.

side-chain function not present in vst version

On the McDSP page, the consumer is not informed that the side-chaining (a major selling point for this unit) doesn't exist in the vst version. When I called after hours of researching why I couldn't find this function, McDSP customer service was unapologetic and downright condescending. I was excited to try their products but have no love for the company now. Sad. This is probably why consumers can't leave reviews in their site's reviews section.
