    Always wanted it!!!

I heard this amp at a store about 7 years ago and it blew me away with the natural sound it provides. At the time, I was only playing at home and I had not started to write original songs and playing live, so I could not justify buying it (around $900). So, I bought it's next brother, the AC-60 instead, which is pretty good and a lot cheaper (around $500 or $600 at the time; do not recall exactly).

When I started writing original songs and then formed a singer-songwriter duo with a singer/lyricist, per Aaron's recommendations (Sweetwater), I bought a Bose L1, MII system for our live shows. In spite of the Bose being the best you can get, I still craved the AC-90. So, when I saw it at the current price and with 36-months with no interest, I saw the opportunity to get it. I am very happy with it.

The AC-90 sounds much, much better than the AC-60; the addition of 2 tweeters gives so much clarity to the mid/hig frequencies of the guitars and voice, and the 8" speakers (versus the 6.5" on the AC-60), really give stronger sense of fullness of the low/mid frequencies. I play 6, 12 and Spanish guitars with it and the sound is just beautifully natural and has enough power for the small venues we normally play live (up to 50 people and indoors), for which the Bose system is too powerful.

The AC-90 is about 10-lbs heavier than the AC-60, yet still portable. It comes with a beautiful and very practical bag; it needs a short handle in addition to the shoulder strap, though.

I do not have anything to say about the effects because I do not use them. I am a finger-picking rhythm guitar player and all the effects throw my timing off when I use them. Plus, I like the natural sound of my guitars without any electronic alterations.

We plan to perform live using both amps, the AC-90 with my guitars and the AC-60 for her vocals. We do this because of her vocal range; she does not need the extra bass the AC-90 provides and the AC-60 has good enough high range for her vocals. To supplement our live act, we will use a KC-150 to play our backup tracks, that way each of us would have a dedicated amp for clearer sound individually.

I waited 7 years to get the AC-90. I am very happy with it!!

    roland ac 90

I cant get over how true the replication of sound this has. I was also looking at the Fishman Artist and AER 60. The AER is well built and has a strong reputation in acoustic amps but i honestly think you r paying for the "name" and it hasn't got the features the roland and fishman has. the Fishman is a strong contender as an acoustic amp and great sounding, but i chose the roland because of its history in building a quality product . SHOP NO FURTHER
