Concert body style gives you excellent natural acoustic projection

Ever since guitarists have been relying on the natural projection of their instruments, the unique voice of the concert body style has been an all-around favorite among musicians. Even without its advanced onboard electronics, the AC3R acoustic-electric guitar gives you a balanced voice that's perfect for anything from traditional music to the driving rhythms of modern acoustic rock. You'll love the full sound of Yamaha's AC3R, particularly when you play more aggressively.

Spruce topped mahogany is a singer-songwriter's ideal tonewood combo

Whether you lean towards indie rock, alt country, traditional folk, or any other style you can think of, if your acoustic guitar is frequently your entire backing band, then you're going to feel right at home with a Yamaha AC3R acoustic-electric guitar. Its mahogany back and sides provide exceptional bass and powerful projection, whereas its spruce top adds air to its treble. This leaves the midrange open for your voice, so you aren't constantly fighting to sing over your guitar. Even if you don't play solo, you can't help but appreciate the AC3R's incredible tonal balance.

SRT electronics system faithfully captures your acoustic sound when you play plugged in

When it's time to plug in, most acoustic guitars are reduced to mere shadows of their former tone. That's why Yamaha developed their SRT electronics. More than a mere preamp system, these electronics form a DSP-driven acoustic modeling system that analyzes the sound of each individual string to faithfully re-create your guitar's sound live. When you plug in your AC3R, you'll hear all the subtle nuances, open space, and smooth overtones you'd only expect from an expertly placed vintage tube mic. Playing plugged in will never be the same again.

Yamaha AC3R Acoustic-electric Guitar Features:
  • An affordable acoustic-electric guitar loaded with high-end features
  • Concert body style provides phenomenal projection and overall tonal balance
  • Solid mahogany back and sides provide satisfying bass response and enhanced projection
  • Solid, spruce top complements the mahogany back and sides with airy treble and a touch of sparkle
  • SRT electronics re-creates the sound and spatial dimension of a vintage microphone used in a professional studio
  • SRT System 63 Preamp controls let you fine-tune your sound to fit any mix or environment
  • Hardshell case included

Yamaha AC3M

I ordered my guitar Thursday morning 12/29/16 around 10:00 am, and it was at my house 12/30/16 about 10:00 am. It was in one big box, and a smaller box inside, which was the guitar case. First the guitar case is beautiful, and then I open the case, wow I said. My brother was staying over, we both said this is a beautiful guitar. I said I hope this sounds as good as it looks, it did!!! I love my new guitar, and Sweetwater is a great company. Aaron Tremain is great also, Everyone I have spoken with at Sweetwater is very friendly, and helpful. Thank you, Robert J. Darragh

How did they pull this off?

I owned a Taylor 714e and then I sold it a to downgrade to something less extravagant. Following some suggestions, I opted for the Taylor GS Mini and went against my gut to buy this Yamaha. After a few weeks I decided the Mini was too small for me and the sound was not what I wanted, so I upgraded to this. Now, the Mini was good for what it is intended to do (I know the guitars are apples and oranges) but this guitar has utterly blown my mind. If you are worried about the quality of build--don't be. It is immaculate and although you can alter it to your preference, it is truly a great all-rounder. The sound (call me crazy) is comparable to the Taylor 714 series I owned for about 1/4 of the price. I love the design, especially the headstock and the neck feel. The sound feels warm and aged (in a good way) and the electronic system is very good. Buy it, you will not regret it!

Best Buy

This guitar is simply the best. Its very playable, looks great and sounds incredible. I cant possibly see why someone would dislike this guitar. The SRT preamp pick up also incredible.. Its got EQ, three high end studio microphones, feedback buster, bony resonanse etc.. What more would anyone want from a guitar. Seriously I think this guitar should cost more.. Its just incredible value. If you looking for a very high end guitar that can do it all in the studio or live for a fraction of the price .. This is your guitar.

Truly fine instrument

Clear, focused tone. No muddiness or boom whatsoever. Fabulous neck! Put some extra light Martin Acoustic SP's on it, use a soft, flexible pick, and it will sing for you! Excellent build quality, and a really excellent hard case too. Very comparable to a Taylor 312ce for 1/2 the price. Electronics are excellent as well.
