Morley ABC 3-button Switcher/Combiner Pedal Reviews
Does your onstage rig use multiple amps? Do you use more than one guitar during your performance? Don't struggle with a web of cables and pedals, or constantly plug in and unplug. Use Morley's convenient ABC selector/ combiner pedal. The three true-bypass switches (each with its own LED indicator) let you switch among or combine three different amps. Or, if you use different guitars throughout your set, you can keep up to three of them plugged into the ABC pedal and have each one ready - at the tap of a footswitch! The ABC pedal features road-tough steel construction and a clean, stage-friendly layout.

Morley pedals
It started with a friend and I learning to play guitar for my friend and bass guitar for me. We had one small amplifier so I bought a "Y" splitter. After a few sessions we realized that the splitter was not doing what we wanted. A Morley ABY was purchased and was an immediate improvement. A second amplifier was obtained so the ABY was put back in the box for later use. I wound up with many amplifiers last year and wanted a way to use more than one at a time. I bought an ABCY pro splitter. Not only did it do what I wanted perfectly but it took out a hum that was there. Then I wanted to have a Roland keyboard, Moog synthesizer and my bass guitar all going into a looper. I purchased an ABCY splitter and it did exactly what I was hoping for. Now I am getting into the world of effects pedals. In researching these devices I found out about series and parallel setups. I purchased an ABY Mixer Combiner for the end of the pedal chain, took the first pedal back out of the box to put at the beginning of the pedal chain and again worked exactly as I was hoping. Now I own all five of the Morley switch boxes. Outstanding product. I will purchase more as needed.
Simple and quiet
Simple, solid, quiet performance. Three way switching allows for more possibilities in my setup. I’m still thinking of new ways to set up my rig now that I have this switch.
Now I know my A, B, C's
Just what I needed, makes life on stage a whole lot easier. Guitar in, A out to a Bose L1 Model II via Big Sky, B out to a VOX 15 amp, and C out to a Play Acoustic. Couldn't be happier! Thanks Sweetwater!
Great purchase
I needed a way to send one signal to three separate amps. This did the trick!
Great
Very nice works great. Now i can switch channels on my Vox AC15C1 amp
Worry free
I primarily play a single acoustic guitar when I gig, but I wanted something that would allow me to choose between my 6-string, 12-string, and baritone. having them all on stage at the same time. I don't have a need for one in - three out, and I have no way (or need, really) to test it, but this works perfectly for what I need. Three in, one out to a tuner, then out from there.
I Love my Morley A-B-C pedal
This pedal saves me so much precious stage time and unnecessary swapping noise. An A-B pedal with an extra C is like an amp that goes to 11. Don"t even look at mine, I"m keeping it.
Works perfectly
So far so good.
Works perfectly.
Absolutely love this pedal
This thing is amazing, does exactly what I wanted it to do which is switch between 2 or 3 Amps with the ability to have two or three amps on at the same time. Love this versatility since I"m a tone freak and value the tone coming out of three different amplifiers that I use. Also love that it"s built incredibly sturdy, lights are incredibly bright so that you can see it on a dark stage..;; love all the functionality. Last but not least , absolutely zero click noise when I hit the buttons even if everything on stage is quiet. That"s a huge plus as well.
ABC's of switching and combining
Haven't used it as much as I wnat yet, but usin this in conjunction with a Morley AB/Y Mix. Run a "Folydish" type tone from my RP1000 into the ABC, split itinto the a Morley AB/Y mix with an adiitional flanger in one of the pathsand I get a great Trower tone. So I get Gilmour and Trower tones in the same mix. Just getting started with these and already scoring big points.
Excellent product.
OK. WOW! I'm blown away. Really. This thing is so darn simple. But, it is far better than I was even anticipating. First off, the battery drives only the LEDs. So, you're really not dependent on a power source. But second, the switching is quiet. And, third (I don't know why I thought it might not be like this...) each switch is independent. So, you can turn on all inputs (or outs depending on how you're using this) or you can turn on any combination or you can turn them all off. Really sweet!
With 3 amps, this thing is essential
Ive used one of these for several years. When my basement flooded, I didn't hesitate to buy the same model. It works great, and is dead reliable.
Nice Switching Pedal!!
I have been using my Morley ABC for about a month now - a number of rehearsals and two gigs. It is exactly what I need to manage three guitars on stage. Before, I was forced to mute the guitar with my tuner, unplug, hang on to the next guitar, plug it in, remember to unmute the line and hang up my other guitar. Challenging in tight spaces and with only a few seconds between songs. And now.... Because all the guitars can be prewired, I can step on a switch to mute, hang up my first guitar, pick up my next one, activate the corresponding switch and play. My stress level is non-existent when trying to make quick changes and the whole band likes me again :-D
The switches are solidly built, I like the LEDs that are on when a switch is active and the box seems to be very substantial. I will need to mount it on some carpet with a Velcro strip to keep the box from walking around the stage, but other than that, the Morley ABC is exactly what I need.
Thanks to Charlie, my sales engineer at Sweetwater, for suggesting such a functional and well built unit. I may actually buy another one to manage my keyboard and other input devices.
Simple, but effective
Switch box works as designed and as advertised - no surprises. I powered mine with a Truetone 1-spot and had no noise issues whatsoever. However, the first time I switched channel A off to switch C in, there was a very noticeable "pop", like unplugging an instrument cable from an unmuted soundboard channel, because that's essentially what happened when I tapped the foot switch. No big deal as long as I remember to push my volume pedal all the way down before switching channels.
Overall good quality construction and design. Replacement switches are readily available if I ever need one, but I suspect this box will hang in there for the long haul. Glad I got it!
Does what it's supposed to do
I'm not sure how doing what it's supposed to do rates five stars. It isn't a talent pedal, after all. You don't need to plug it in or have battery power for it to be a reliable switch. Without power, it just doesn't have lights that light up to tell you which circuit is on or off. It works both three to one and one to three, so you can plug one source into three output circuits or three sources into one output. I bought it because I play with a guitarist who switches between three guitars. That's time consuming and makes awful noises. He forgets to hit the tuner/kill switch before unplugging sometimes. This solves that problem. Now the trick is to get him to use it reliably. Maybe if it would train absent minded guitarists, it would get a five star rating.
Morley ABC Switcher
Pretty simple box for a simple application. No signal degradation which is a must!
Quick & Quiet!
With the purchase of a third go-to guitar, I needed to replace my 2-way non-LED A/B true-bypass box with one that would accommodate all three instruments without having to endure the noise & delay of unplugging one to plug in another. The ABC saved me.
This is the first box inline on my pedalboard, and gives me hassle-free flexibility to use all three guitars, and unlike my old box, the LEDs on this one tell me which inputs are hot. Without a "mute" selector, I don't have to figure out when I have no output whether the box is muted or I've selected the wrong channel; I always know which channels are live, and if I want to silence the amp without changing guitar volume, I can do it with my tuner (the last box inline).
My old box was better than nothing, but there's nothing better than the Morley.
Great investment
I was always trying to find a way to thicken up my guitar sound. This ABC pedal did the trick- i run 2 line 6 spider 3s and a Peavey Wiggy. The modeling from the Line 6 Amps and the responsiveness of the Peavey has created a whole new beast with infinite molding possibilities....
Mediocre
This pedal worked ok for a year or so. After that, the A channel started having issues...I would have to engage/disengage a couple times for the level to be where it should. Since I was only using two of the channels anyway, I moved over to channels B & C and it worked that way for another few months.
Now the B channel has a terrible buzz on occasion (tried new patch cables) and I have decided to replace the pedal with a Radial BigShot I/O.
The pedal has always had a small pop when changing channels; MUCH louder when the pedal is first powered on (like there is a built up charge that needs to be expelled by switching channels a few times).
The bass player in my band has the same pedal. He's been using it for 6 months or so and is also starting to have issues with his.
Not Bad, Not Great
Read other reviews and bought this based partially on the fact that the switches were reported to be quiet. They are not, at least on the one I received. There is a significant pop when you step on any of the switches. It does not add any noise to the signal chain once any of the channels are engaged which is a very good thing. I llike the fact that the unit will still work without the battery in the event that the battery goes dead in the middle of a set. It seems well built and sturdy so all in all I'd say it's worth buying if you can put up with the pop every time you step on a switch.
Morley ABC 3-Button Switcher
Functions as expected. The reason for average rating is the pop noise going through the amp when operating the switches. Silencing this would make it rate 5.
Battery Powered!
Who would have expected that a simple switch would need battery power? OK, you want to have LEDs show you which channel is on, great. But to actually get the switch to function? Geez. Why are the switches active?? This thing chews down batteries, too. I've used it (since there is NOTHING else like it on the market) since I play 3 different instruments during shows. Nothing like suddenly stepping on this little cow muffin and having sweet silence come from your amp no matter what. SW needs to sell the power brick for this!
HAS ITS PROBLEMS - DISAPPOINTED!
I bought this for keyboards. I wanted to run 2 or 3 keyboards into it and out to board so I could turn off rack mount synths instead of doing elaborate midi stuff.
It worked great for a while, then every once in a while when you hit the first button, you'd get a HUGE NASTY BUZZ thru the pa system that I was plugged into!!! Also if you don't hit the button in a while, sometimes when you finally do, IT POPS loud enough to sound like a gunshot thru the PA system. Needless to say, it's an ingenious device but here's the real kicker..
I am somewhat experienced in electronics and know enough to be dangerous. I bet this can be fixed by installing an additional capacitor/resistor to the switch to stop the build up. But when you go to the MORLEY site, they clearly tell you they NO LONGER REPAIR PEDALS!!! Well slacker, if you don't stand behind your product, why should I take it on stage with me!?
I don't recommend this pedal at all unless you play in a grunge or metal band and don't care about noise and gunshot sounds.
Not so happy
I expected this switch to be completely silent. It has developed an intermittent small "pop" when engaging or disengaging one of the channels.
