Stereo Mic Adapter!

The Shure model A27M is a stereo microphone adapter designed to hold two microphones in selectable positions for stereo broadcasting, recording or sound reinforcement. It allows two microphones to share one stand without losing independent positioning flexibility. The A27M permits coincident or closely spaced mounting with a wide range of directional angles, and vertical microphone separations of 1 1/4 inches (31.8 mm), 2 5/8 inches (66.7 mm) or 4 inches (102 mm).

The A27M consists of two vertically stacked sections that rotate on their centers. Each contains a 5/8"-27 threaded stud and locking ring to accept a variety of microphones. The bottom section contains a 5/8"-27 adapter for mounting on a microphone stand. A cable clamp for holding microphone cables is included.

Great recommendation!

This works perfectly with the Matched Pair of Microphones! Couldn't be happier.

Works very well and it's very well constructed!

Solid and very usable

As an experiment, I recorded everything but the vocal for a recent track with the Shure A27M holding 2 Shure SM-81 mics. (diaphragms right over each other) With this set-up we could do no wrong. The mics never moved as we set up and re-set several times. This is a deceptively simple and very sturdy piece of gear. When you need a stereo pair and you don't want them moving on you, it's just right. Adjusts for mics from big ribbons to pencil. You will eventually need the Shure A27M.

Rugged and Versatile

Whatever stereo mic technique you use, this is the stand adaptor you want to use. The black parts rotate and you can take them off and flip them on the body to move the mics closer together (or farther apart) It's got a heft to it and should last forever.

Shure A27M

The Shure A27M is a very rugged and simple to use adapter for Coincident and Near-coincident stereo array setups. The offset makes for a very accurate XY setting without the vertical span that some stereo bars force you into. It could only use some calibrated position markers for more precise angle settings. Students prefer this over the standard stereo bar that may not be as accommodating to shorter capsules like the Rode NT5.
