Dreadnought body style gives you excellent natural acoustic projection

Ever since guitarists have been relying on the natural projection of their instruments, the unique voice of the dreadnought body style has been an all-around favorite among musicians. Even without its advanced onboard electronics, the A1M acoustic-electric guitar gives you a balanced voice that's perfect for anything from traditional music to the driving rhythms of modern acoustic rock. You'll love the full sound of Yamaha's A1M, particularly when you play more aggressively.

Spruce-topped mahogany is a singer-songwriter's ideal tonewood combo

Whether you lean towards indie rock, alt country, traditional folk, or any other style you can think of, if your acoustic guitar is frequently your entire backing band, then you're going to feel right at home with a Yamaha A1M acoustic-electric guitar. Its mahogany back and sides provide exceptional bass and powerful projection, whereas its spruce top adds air to its treble. This leaves the midrange open for your voice, so you aren't constantly fighting to sing over your guitar. Even if you don't play solo, you can't help but appreciate the A1M's incredible tonal balance.

SRT electronics system faithfully captures your acoustic sound when you play plugged in

When it's time to plug in, most acoustic guitars are reduced to mere shadows of their former tone. That's why Yamaha developed their SRT electronics. More than a mere preamp system, these electronics form a DSP-driven acoustic modeling system that analyzes the sound of each individual string to faithfully re-create your guitar's sound live. When you plug in your A1M, you'll hear all the subtle nuances, open space, and smooth overtones you'd only expect from an expertly placed vintage tube mic. Playing plugged in will never be the same again.

Yamaha A1M Acoustic-electric Guitar Features:
  • An affordable acoustic-electric guitar loaded with high-end features
  • Dreadnought body style provides phenomenal projection and overall tonal balance
  • Mahogany back and sides provide satisfying bass response and enhanced projection
  • Solid, spruce top complements the mahogany back and sides with airy treble and a touch of sparkle
  • SRT electronics re-creates the sound and spatial dimension of a vintage microphone used in a professional studio
  • SRT System 66 Preamp controls let you fine-tune your sound to fit any mix or environment
  • Hardshell case included

Pro guitar with surprisingly full sound

Surprisingly full, rich sound with plenty of bass for a solid top/laminate guitar. Yamaha knows how to do this better than anybody. This is a gig worthy guitar that looks like it can take the rigors of the road. I'll be using mine for harsh climates and rough and tumble venues.

It's a winner!

I needed a workhorse guitar for my weekend acoustic gigs and the A1M seemed like it would fit the bill. Thanks to Sweetwater it sounded great right out of the box. It was set up nicely and looks great! Where I was especially pleased was when I took it for its' first gig. I usually plug right into the board and with just a little adjustment of the guitar's on-board EQ I had a nice warm, even sound. Since I play mostly rhythm, being able to select the mid range frequency allowed me to get a little more chuck where I needed it. My only criticism is some raggedy woodworking at the base of the neck, but it was finished up ok and if anyone is close enough to see it then they are pouring their drink on you. I will say this, it was a warm humid evening and with some minor adjustments between sets it stayed in tune all night. If you're a weekend warrior like me you couldn't ask for a better sounding or looking guitar at a better price.

Yamaha A1M mahogany vs rosewood and all t a good price!

The shortcoming: no mute while using the tuner. The rest: excellent! This guitar is offered at 500 bucks in my store and I picked it over the A1R since I play with nails. Every guitar is different, so play as many of these as possible and then choose. I find the neck configuration, slightly wider string spacing, and open pore satin finish really comfortable. The gloss body is well done and the wood trim is a nice touch. Get an unbleached bone saddle to replace the stock one for more volume and resonance. A cheap and VERY effective upgrade. And try .011-.052 strings if you finger pick... more open sound and the Martin FX tunes up to pitch at slightly lower tension. I have owned Yamaha, Taylor, Martin,Gibson,Eastman,Guild and Epiphone. This Yamaha is a perfect price point for a really nice sound and feel and about a thousand less than competitors. A thousand!
