Vintage Jazzbox Tones

The Guild A-150 Savoy hollowbody electric guitar embodies the simplicity of classic "jazz box" guitars. Created from laminated flame maple back and sides with a solid, arched spruce top, the A-150 Savoy has the look and feel of a vintage instrument. And the tone is as warm and inviting as you'd expect, courtesy of a specially-voiced DeArmond 1000 floating pickup. White binding on the body and fretboard enhances the old-school look. For rich, vibrant, jazzy tones, it's hard to beat the value in the Guild A-150 Savoy hollowbody electric guitar.

Based on a '50s classic

The A-150 Savoy is reminiscent of the late-'50s Guild orchestra model, a classic hollowbody electric guitar. Boasting a body made of laminated flame maple and solid spruce, and combined with a special DeArmond pickup, the A-150 Savoy is everything you'd expect from a vintage jazz box.

Rich tone from a custom-voiced DeArmond floating pickup

Popular from the '30s through the '60s, DeArmond pickups were a very popular choice for amplifying acoustic hollowbody guitars. The A-150 Savoy sports a custom-voiced DeArmond 1000 floating pickup in the neck position, and it's got the warm, smoky glow you've heard on countless jazz recordings.

3-piece neck for long-lasting playability

Multi-piece necks are stronger and more rigid than single-piece necks, resisting twisting and warping over the years. Treat it well, and you'll get a lifetime of exceptional playability from the Guild A-150 Savoy hollowbody.

Guild A-150 Savoy Hollowbody Electric Guitar Features:

  • Vintage-voiced hollowbody electric guitar with custom-voiced pickup

Guild 150 A-150 SB

Very nice hollow body guitar. Well done Guild! Looks great, sounds great, plays beautifully. Perfect set up from SW. Every guitar from them has been ready to play with no issues. Stephen Oppenheim has helped me purchase several guitars and he is very good at what he does. The 55 point evaluation, customer service, and Stephen make the SW value as far as I am concerned.

Great choice for jazz

The guitar arrived well packed and the setup by Sweetwater was excellent. It comes with flat wound 12s. I thought I would be changing them because I have small hands but I'm pretty used to them now and they sound great. Ah, the sound. I have some nice laminated guitars for playing jazz including an ES-335 but the minute I heard the beautiful rich bass of this Guild I knew she was a keeper. The back and sides are laminated but the top is solid spruce, bookmatched. And the notes up the neck are so pure I find people listening more to my solos just for the sweet sound. The acoustic sound surprised me, loud and full like a much older archtop. The workmanship is pretty much flawless. If you think you want a jazz guitar this guitar is an excellent choice and I don't think it can be bettered without spending a lot more money.

Guild A-150 Excellent

This guitar exceeded my expectations as it looks and sounds great. If you are looking for a great jazz sound I recommend it highly. Excellent finish, neck and fretwork. Have only good things to say about it. Exactly what I was looking for in an arch top hollow body jazz guitar.

Great Sound & Incredible Value !

This guitar is above and beyond my quality expectations for the price range. The specs just don't give a hint at what beautiful tones the solid 1 pc Spruce top over laminated flame maple can produce. It arrived in perfect condition, already set up, and ready to play "as is" thanks to Sweetwaters pre shipping evaluation.(thanks S/W!).It is absolutely flawless, from the jumbo sized body made of fine tonewoods, to the rock solid 3 pc. neck that's just a shave bigger than a slim-taper.The "fit & finish" are both simply perfect, the fretwork superbly done with no fret ends to be felt anywhere.Playability is top shelf with an action height that is fantastically low for a 1 pc. saddled guitar. The appointments are equally nice, the jazz/blues voiced DeArmond Rythym Chief "monkey on a stick" pickup is clear and articulate, the rosewood bridge and saddle are correctly cut, and a spare un-notched saddle is included in the case.To my surprise, the string nut is cut to perfection as well.It comes in a (Canadian) TKL Hardshell Case, that is as nice as any I own.I highly recommend this guitar for anybody wanting an extremely good value in a guitar that's perfect for Jazz, Blues, and '50s "Rock & Roll" !

True "Orchestra Guitar" sound.

Prior to the age of "noise", this is what a guitar was supposed to sound like. Warm lows, mellow highs - makes me happy I took lessons from the old school orchestra players. Plays like dream, sounds even better. A true winner from Guild.
