Vintage Jazzbox Tones

The Guild A-150 Savoy hollowbody electric guitar embodies the simplicity of classic "jazz box" guitars. Created from laminated flame maple back and sides with a solid, arched spruce top, the A-150 Savoy has the look and feel of a vintage instrument. And the tone is as warm and inviting as you'd expect, courtesy of a specially-voiced DeArmond 1000 floating pickup. White binding on the body and fretboard enhances the old-school look. For rich, vibrant, jazzy tones, it's hard to beat the value in the Guild A-150 Savoy hollowbody electric guitar.

Based on a '50s classic

The A-150 Savoy is reminiscent of the late-'50s Guild orchestra model, a classic hollowbody electric guitar. Boasting a body made of laminated flame maple and solid spruce, and combined with a special DeArmond pickup, the A-150 Savoy is everything you'd expect from a vintage jazz box.

Rich tone from a custom-voiced DeArmond floating pickup

Popular from the '30s through the '60s, DeArmond pickups were a very popular choice for amplifying acoustic hollowbody guitars. The A-150 Savoy sports a custom-voiced DeArmond 1000 floating pickup in the neck position, and it's got the warm, smoky glow you've heard on countless jazz recordings.

3-piece neck for long-lasting playability

Multi-piece necks are stronger and more rigid than single-piece necks, resisting twisting and warping over the years. Treat it well, and you'll get a lifetime of exceptional playability from the Guild A-150 Savoy hollowbody.

Beautiful Tone

Purchased here at Sweetwater. My Sweetwater Rep is Joseph Secu and he is a pleasure to work with. For this purchase I trusted my knowledge and instincts so I ordered this Guild Newark Street A-150 Savoy in Blond. I wanted a playable acoustic archtop guitar to bring along without an amp. I wanted good tone that only an actual acoustic guitar is capable of producing and the amplifier simply makes louder. I wanted a fretboard that was right and needed no work. While this guitar is not the loudest when played unplugged it is loud enough and at times depending upon how you play it can be very loud unplugged. The actual quality of the tone of each note is so good that I am considering purchasing a second identical instrument. I am very happy with my choice. More than that, I am so satisfied that finally and at last I have the guitar of my dreams. The included case is of the highest quality something you do not see much these day's. I highly recommend this instrument especially if you want excellent playability along with very good tone in a reasonably prices guitar.

Archtop Hollowbody Special

The Guild Newark Street A-150 Savoy Archtop Hollowbody is a great deal for the price, and a notch above other laminated hollow body arch tops. The solid spruce arched top, with laminated flamed maple arched back and sides combine to provide a rich, warm, resonant acoustic hollow body sound, especially when plugged in. The overall craftsmanship and build of the instrument is top notch, and the result is a professional instrument for the jazz guitar player, that is an awesome value. Check it out. Awesome.
