Taylor 916ce Grand Symphony Reviews

5.0 stars based on 1 customer review
  • from Memphis, TN October 28, 2013Music Background:

    Beautiful guitar, beautiful sound

I have three other Taylors so I decided to finally take the plunge into the 900 series. First of all this instrument is drop-dead gorgeous, from the red pin striping on the sides to the elegant looking gold Gotoh tuners. It truly is a work of art.

The sound is pitch perfect. Crisp yet resonating, so much so that even a person who is not terribly familiar with acoustic guitars is able to appreciate the clarity. I have grown accustomed to the medium gauge strings and now actually prefer them to the lights. I tried the light gauge on another Grand Symphony, and the sound was not as full and rich as the mediums. Also, the bone nut and saddle on this guitar make a world of difference in tonal quality.

The guitar is expensive, but as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. I have done direct sound comparisons with Martins, and the Taylor comes out ahead hands down. You can't go wrong with this instrument.
