First-rate Luxury with a Tobacco Sunburst Twist
Taylor's 900 Series guitars have always projected high-end sophistication, with detail-rich aesthetics and the most refined levels of craftsmanship. The Taylor 914ce Grand Auditorium in tobacco sunburst finish goes even further, showcasing a tobacco sunburst top treatment that nicely complements the paua abalone top trim. A lush redesign gives the 914ce a comfortable ebony armrest, along with the same sweeping array of tone-enhancing refinements first applied to the 800 Series. On the 914ce, the Grand Auditorium’s all-around versatility has been punched up to produce a more powerful bass response and a warmer, sweeter midrange. Additional features include a Venetian cutaway and Taylor’s gorgeous ES2 electronics.
Refined appointments with enhanced curb appeal
The 914ce Grand Auditorium acoustic-elecric guitar features all the high-end touches you'd expect from a top-of-the-line Taylor. It boasts an ebony binding, back strip, fretboard, bridge pins, and back strap (rear headstock overlay). That ebony is accompanied by koa purfling, colorful abalone shell inlays and trim, and gold-finish Gotoh tuners. The redesign, however, includes a proprietary finish that is done in an inviting tobacco sunburst color that really sets this guitar apart from its peers. According to Taylor, the tobacco sunburst effect is applied without thickening the finish, so your 914ce will sing out as resonantly as ever.
A classic combo — solid Sitka spruce and Indian rosewood
Nothing beats the sound of real rosewood topped with solid spruce — and that's exactly what you get with the Taylor 914ce. It features a beautiful solid Sitka spruce top, which gives you wonderful projection and the perfect amount of sparkle. Add to that the balanced tone and astonishing projection of the 914ce's Indian rosewood back and sides, and you have a guitar with a timeless and highly appealing sound. Apart from its beautiful tone, you'll notice the 914ce's intricate abalone inlays and rosette add a touch of flash to the instrument.
A richer, more vibrant voice, thanks to customized bracing
When you first pick up a Taylor 914ce, you'll immediately notice the exceptionally vibrant tones and unique character. Taylor went back to the drawing board and redesigned their bracing patterns to get the optimum response out of each of their iconic body shapes. Taylor even added side bracing to add rigidity to the sides and enhance top and back movement.
Grand Auditorium body yields great presence and comfort
The Grand Auditorium body style featured on the 914ce employs the width and depth of the dreadnought, but its waist is narrower, giving Grand Auditorium bodies a sleeker look and more treble zing. The body style also helps to sharpen the definition of each note. In addition, the 914ce has a curvy, open Venetian cutaway for excellent treble access, and player comfort is enhanced with a thoughtfully designed ebony armrest. According to master guitar designer Andy Powers, the added ergonomics of the armrest improve the sound of the guitar by more closely pairing the player and the instrument. In other words, a more comfortable fit helps you play and sound better.
Cutting-edge Taylor Expression System 2 electronics
If you play plugged in, then you're going to love the Taylor Expression System 2 (ES2) electronics built into your 914ce. The key to this fantastic system is the 3-section proprietary pickup located behind the saddle. Because of its location and saddle integration, the ES2 pickup provides you with remarkably clear and accurate sound. In addition to a master volume control, a pair of tone controls lets you tweak your highs and lows to get the sound you need, and a discreet phase switch offers vital onboard feedback suppression.
