Small-bodied Taylor with Big Tone!

Taylor's redesigned 812 12-Fret acoustic guitar is the culmination of 40 years of experience and research. The 812 12-Fret features Indian rosewood back and sides, premium-grade Sitka spruce top, mahogany neck with ebony fretboard, and a pearl inlay design. Taylor went back to the drawing board to create custom Advanced Performance bracing and optimized wood thickness for each guitar model to give you the most out of your guitar. Everyone at Sweetwater is impressed with how the 812 12-Fret guitar sounds unplugged, especially with its natural 12-fret projection. The Taylor 812 12-Fret Grand Concert has a robust output, dynamic range, and sensitive response for all types of players.

Taylor 812 12-Fret Grand Concert Acoustic Guitar at a Glance:
  • Super-comfortable Grand Concert body style provides excellent tonal balance
  • A richer, more vibrant voice than ever before thanks to custom bracing
  • Stronger construction and more open, vibrant tone thanks to fish protein glue
  • Exceptional tone, volume, and balance thanks to custom-tailored wood thickness
Super-comfortable Grand Concert body style provides excellent tonal balance

Taylor's Grand Concert body style gives you clarity, focus, and balanced tone that sits beautifully in thicker arrangements where a larger-bodied acoustic would take up too much real estate. The 812 12-Fret's modified bracing and shorter scale length give you a darker and punchier tone than the standard 14-fret model. At the same time, the way the neck joins the body at the 12th fret adds serious natural acoustic projection to this instrument. All told, the 812 12-Fret is a wonderful choice if you want a smaller-bodied guitar with a full-bodied sound.

A richer, more vibrant voice than ever before thanks to custom bracing

You'll notice that the Taylor 812 12-Fret boasts exceptionally vibrant tones with a unique character. Taylor went back to the drawing board and redesigned their bracing patterns to get the optimum response out of each of their iconic body shapes. Taylor even added side bracing to add rigidity to the sides and enhance top and back movement. In the words of luthier Andy Powers, the updated Advanced Performance bracing pattern gives the 812 12-Fret a "nice, cushy swell and long sustain, even with a delicate touch."

Stronger construction and more open, vibrant tone thanks to fish protein glue

With the 812, Taylor has returned to real animal protein glue (fish, in fact) instead of synthetic glue. Luthiers have been using protein glues for centuries for their incredible strength, and also for their tone. Protein glue optimizes transfer of vibrations and also holds amazingly well, which means you're sure to get a lifetime of fantastic tone from the Taylor 812 acoustic guitar.

Exceptional tone, volume, and balance thanks to custom-tailored wood thickness

One of the things we like best about Taylor at Sweetwater is that their various body styles are designed for specific purposes, allowing you to choose a guitar that's the perfect match for your style. With the 812, Taylor takes that to another level by carefully matching the thickness of the wood to the body style. They determined what the optimum wood thickness for the 812'S Grand Concert body would be, to give you maximum tone and light weight while also being equally strong.

Taylor 812 12-Fret Grand Concert Acoustic Guitar Features:
  • 812 12-Fret with updated bracing and electronics
  • Smaller than average 12-fret Grand Concert body style is extremely comfortable and naturally loud
  • Shorter scale length and modified bracing give you a darker, punchier sound
  • Exceptionally open, vibrant sound thanks to real protein glue, no synthetic adhesives used
  • Maximum strength and tone with minimum weight, thanks to customized wood thickness
  • Custom-designed Advanced Performance bracing provides better response, projection, and tone
  • Sitka spruce top provides a light and expressive sound
  • Indian rosewood back and sides gives you a rich, vibrant sound with exceptional projection
  • Includes hardshell case
Taylor's 812 12-Fret Grand Concert acoustic is a distinctive, ultra-playable beauty!

Taylor 812 12-Fret - Natural

Yes in deed WOW! I never had an opportunity to try out the Taylor guitar before this one was delivered to my door step. So I had no idea what to expect and was really taking a big step for me, but I knew Sweetwater would take it back if I was happy with it. Taking it out of the box the first thing I noticed was the really great case and the 4 locks around the main section of the case - then how snug the case fit the guitar - truly a very good case. Now for the guitar - absolutely impeccable construction and finish - not a blemish any where from one end to the other. I let it set in my house for 24 hours before trying it out for playing - Yikes!!!! IT SOUNDED DEAD! Then I remembered it set on a truck on the shipper parking lot for Saturday and Sunday plus another day of travel and I am on the end of the Local delivery route, so another full day sitting in a very hot truck. I put a package of those Humidifier bags in the guitar and one by the head stock, closed the case and left town for 3 days. When I cam back, I pulled out the guitar and the difference needed humidification makes is astounding I must say. I was leaning toward returning this guitar, but after the humidification routine, IT IS A KEEPER! YIPPIE!This guitar has a great and surprising sound from bottom to top for finger style and you might want to stand back a bit when using a pick. This guitar has great volume and the harmonics are super even on the 9th fret. I also like the shorter scale length even tho I have very big hands and fingers. The smaller size from the dreads I am used to is very comfortable, especially when sitting.I definitely recommend you take a close look and try this guitar.

812 12fret dream player

This is one of eighteen guitars I own. I have been playing for 60 years. This is my current fav.One of the many things I like, it's size and weight. Because of its compactness it's easy to play.Fingerpick your brains out, I found I can really get carried away with this guitar, and it still sounds good flat picked which my o-28 12fret does not. So just for the record this is not among the most expensive or most valuable , but it is definitely the most fun to play and the easiest. Has a great full voice, loud. You won't have to worry about being overpowered acoustically . So everyday I pick up a guitar to play, they all hang in my music room, and for the last six months I pick up this axe 90% of the time. Enough said!
