618e is EVERYTHING I hoped it would be!
I have played guitar for 25 years and owned many top-end electrics, but always skimped on acoustics. Finally, i decided I wanted a quality acoustic guitar. I went out to every music store I could find and played tons of guitars. Time after time I found that the acoustic guitars I gravitated to the most, were the Maple Body guitars. So my choices were a bit limited. Long story short, I chose the Taylor 618e, in part because a fellow musician has had a Taylor for 8 years and it's performed flawlessly. My 618e arrived in perfect condition, well packaged by Sweetwater. Two months later, I can tell you the 618e is everything I hoped it would be and more! It has the sparkle that maples body acoustics are known for, but Taylor also managed to balance in a nice, legitimate, low-end that has a sincere prescence when you play. Plugged in, the amplification does a nice job of capturing it's natural tone. This is always subject to the type of amp you're using. but if you stick with a fairly nuetral voiced amp, you should be pleased. I would highly recomend the 618e to anybody who is looking for a maple bodied acoustic. AND the sales team at Sweetwater is fantastic.
