5th Avenue Jazz--Incredible Guitar!

I thought about buying this guitar for some time. After talking with Randy Akins, (a Great Sweetwater salesman!), I was convinced. What a beautiful, fantastic sounding guitar! I have a Gibson ES-175, an ES-137, and 2 Taylors, but the Godin 5th Avenue Jazz will soon be my favorite guitar for all solos, and small band outings, etc. Compare this guitar with others at twice the price, and you'll see what a great deal this is. Then call Randy at Sweetwater.....I did!!

You could'nt do better at twice the price

I wanted an arch top for a long time, and even had my heart set on a Martin CF1. As I was looking for and did find a new CF1 I also found this Godin. I did a serious comparison of the two and found out that the CF1 was made out of laminates which I don't think is that big of a deal, but I wanted solid wood. I also wanted a guitar that was great looking, had an ebony fret board, and was easy to play. I also wanted something that I would hold on to, and not sell in a year or two. The Godin was $1300 less than the Martin, and I was dealing with Sweetwater so I knew I could return it if it wasn't what I was looking for. I made the the decision to get the Godin. I'm very happy with the choice, you could spend twice as much from another maker, and not get this much guitar. This solid cherry wood this Godin is made with is beautiful. The fit and finish are the best you'll ever see from any maker. The two things that I would have liked to seen on this guitar is a wood pick guard, but the plastic one that is on it is ok and I don't have plans on changing it. but the strap pins have to be replaced, you'll see why if you buy one. I chose loxx strap locks, and could'nt be happier with my choice. This guitar has a beautiful sound with or without amplification, although you'll only be playing to yourself or a very small group without an amp. This makes my collection complete with an Epiphone Masterbuilt acoustic, and Jim Root Tele. If you're looking for an arch top give this Godin a try it will not disappoint.

A solid choice: Godin 5th Avenue Jazz

I was skeptical that the Jazz, at about twice the price of many other models in the 5th Avenue lineup, would prove worth it. But this guitar delivers. For a brand new instrument, it has a remarkably mature sound, a nicely rounded tone, clean attack and good sustain. It's a breeze to play, and the fit and finish are spot on. Seems like a great option for an emerging-but-serious student, or even a veteran player looking for something presentable that can be carried to jams with less worry than a high-end archtop. Definitely a solid choice.

good looking, nice sound!

experienced player with little training would not be as good as this guitar has style and class. With that being said, It's great for any playing style blues ,jazz, rock! for a moderately priced guitar and well equipped to perform at any level. I have had the guitar a week and so far it lives up to it's linage and appearance . the neck has an easy radius is very comfortable with no problem adjusting from the Gretch to the Godin, great for fast fingering style for the finger board , rose wood, the neck is maple, smooth and sleek, the finish is nice, t he cherry at first glance looked light with a flamed finish, as advertised , just a very basic and modest with one floating humbucker, I play acoustic as well as though my old peavey bandit and fender blues junior, great sound for my style, little smaller than my other guitar, feels good fight out of the box, with in days of playing the Godin jazz guitar it fit in nicely and will be a good addition the my collection. good guitar...
