Stage-ready looks

When encountering this mic for the first time, the sonic characteristics aren't exactly the first thing you're going to notice. The Shure SH55 UNIDYNE II, while sounding great, is an absolute showpiece when rocking with your band onstage. It's signature satin chrome-plated die-cast casing really makes it stand out in the crowded field of dynamic microphones, vying for your attention.

Modern-sounding performance

With it's obviously vintage leaning looks, the SH55 UNIDYNE II offers you the modern performance that you expect from a Shure microphone. Like some of Shure's other classic designs, the SH55 UNIDYNE II has a voice tailored for speech, and other vocals with a very present top end. And it even works great on instruments, really helping them cut through a dense mix.

Cardioid pickup pattern

Since this mic is designed to rule a loud stage, the SH55 UNIDYNE II was designed with a cardioid polar pattern. That makes sure it's getting your vocals out to your audience, without also sending out the loud din of the rest of your band's sound bleeding through. It'll give you just what you want, and none of what you don't.

Shure 55SH UNIDYNE Series II Dynamic Microphone Features:
  • A great dynamic mic tailor made for live performance
  • Looks that harken back to the best of the past
  • Thoroughly modern sounding performance
  • Great noise rejection via a cardioid polar pattern
  • Frequency response: 50Hz to 15kHz
  • Stand mount built into the mic
Get the best of today and the past in the Shure UNIDYNE SH55 II!

I've only had this mic for a few months now, and it's already seen a lot of action. It's been to a few gigs, tossed around in a studio, dropped more times than I'd like to admit, the works. I cannot recommend this thing enough! It's built like an absolute tank, for starters. You'd have to drive over this thing a few times for it to break. The EQ on this microphone is incredible as well. It sounds crisp, clear, and handles gain very well (though be careful with speaker placement. Since its a cardioid it's not too fond of speakers being too close--put your PA's and monitors a good distance away). Did I mention the look? This thing looks REAL good on stage. I wholeheartedly recommend this to any vocalist, regardless of genre.

Shure 55SH Series II

The great sound of Shure and the quality as well!!!! When you buy one of these DO invest in a quick release adaptor so you won't strip the threads.

Bought it for Looks - Got Something Else

I purchased the Shure 55SH Series II for that old school look and to bring my mobile Karaoke to another level. I am not a microphone expert but the sound quality was good in practice. When I set up the Shure 55SH microphone and my Shure Wireless Microphone, here is what people did at the Karaoke event; - Individual Singers who wanted to stand in front of the microphone, used the Shure 55SH. People who wanted to move around the room, used the wireless. - When there were a group of singers, the background surrounded the Shure 55SH, while the lead singer used the wireless. Here are some of the comments I heard; - "Thanks DJ Chuck, I felt like a real singer on stage." - "I never heard the quality of my voice sound like that!" Remember, I am a Karaoke DJ :-) Here are my comments about the 55SH; - There was no hiss, pop, feedback, etc - The microphone is attractive and will draw people towards it - The quality of sound is perfect for live performances - My only issue was you need the right stand for the mic (that's personal) It achieved the goal I want in a microphone, good looking in a nice body and the quality that match.

Great Mike works good with my Cube Street Ex system.

Great Microphone

Great quality and I like the ajustability. I'm not sure if this a word but it does the job, it can make you sound like Johnny Cash (ha). awesome highs and lows. My Wife loves it because it is like the one Elvis used in the Sun Studio. and of coarse I must have it.
