Finger style perfection
Currently own a handful of Taylor and Martin guitars (814ce, 322, 314, 000-15M, HD-28) and now this 512CE 12-fret. Each guitar has its uses and in many regards it is not far to compare them to each other for they each have unique voices and offer sonic variety. But this guitar stands out all alone as the premier finger style guitar. Playing this guitar is almost effortless and is highly responsive to the touch. The voice is full, rich and mellow and what is surprising is how the notes bloom as they decay. The sustain is pleasing yet not so over the top that notes bleed over into the next. For a small bodied guitar the bass is impressive and overall is very well balanced across the spectrum of low to high end notes and the mid-range is nothing less than stunning. Plugged in the ES2 system is amazing even when using the rather low end acoustic amp I have and with very little effort sounds exactly the same as when unplugged. Andy Powers and Taylor guitars have knocked the ball out of the park on this one. If you play fingerstyle get this one and if you do you will not let it go, I know this one has found its forever home with me.
