A classic electric bass - reborn!

Modeled after the 1964 incarnation of the world's first electric bass, the Lakland Skyline 44-64 lets you hold down the low end in style. That's largely in part thanks to Lakland's rendition of the famous split-coil pickup, which gives your Skyline 44-64 the trademark thump that's powered the backline on many main stages for years - you know the sound we're talking about! And with upgrades such as Lakland's impressive dual-access bridge, you'll get the best combination of classic sound and modern stability with your Skyline 44-64 bass.

Skyline Series gives you excellent quality at an affordable price

The Lakeland Skyline 44-64 electric bass gives you amazing quality for a great low price. That's because the Skyline 44-64, like all Skyline Series basses, is made overseas and finished in Lakland's stateside shop. So, regardless of where it was originally made, each Skyline 44-64 passes through the hands of Lakland's US luthiers long before it finds its way to you. And when you add to that the fact that your Skyline 44-64 comes equipped with the same pickup and hardware as its US-made cousin, you know you're getting an amazing deal.

Great Bass for P lovers

Had my last purchase been a Fender, it would have been a P with a J neck. Love the P sound but the neck is tough for shorter fingers. I decided on the 44-64 and it was a good choice. The tone is more "even" across low/high frequencies than my P, and sweeter in every way than the Fender '62 re-issue. The neck is the fastest that I've owned, so much so that it took a couple of gigs to lighten my touch. The workmanship is solid and the finish is beautiful. I find it hard to walk past this bass and not pick it up. On the first gig, another player predicted I'd love it enough to play Laklands hereafter; so far I see his point.

Quality and Value

I have played Fenders for years, but thought I would try something different. I always liked the looks of Laklands, but the price was way out of my budget. Bought this from Sweetwater as a demo. I am glad I did. The quality of this bass is amazing. So what, it was made in Indonesia and finished in Chicago. This beats any USA Fender. I have never seen such beautiful fretwork on any bass. The sound is amazing. Really gives you that vintage PA bass thump. If you are even thinking about getting this bass, do it now! They don't stay in stock for long.

Great P Bass Sound

Pros: the J style neck feels good to play. This is one of those instruments that you just cannot put down. Fit and finish is fine. Electronics work well. Sound is great out of the box, I prefer flatwounds so I swapped the rounds out right away and am just loving the traditional style P bass sound. Cons: heavy. Feels like the weights of 1 1/2 of my US Fender American Standard J bass. But nothing a good strap can't cure.
