Tonal Perfection, Great Looks, and Uber-playability

The Taylor 416e acoustic-electric guitar gives you a big low end, healthy volume whether picked or strummed, and articulation with a light attack. These are characteristics of the Grand Symphony body style (a Bob Taylor innovation), which gives you the sonic advantages of a dreadnought, without the boom. The 416e sports ovangkol back and sides, and a fast mahogany neck with a scrumptious ebony fingerboard. Topping off the package is Taylor's renowned ES2 electronics. If tonal perfection, great looks, and uber-playability are your thing, check out the Taylor 416e.

Grand Symphony body style: huge, balanced tone with articulation

Bob Taylor developed the Grand Symphony body style to push the sonic envelope (yet again). Deeper, fuller, and louder than a Grand Auditorium - or a Dreadnought, for that matter - the Taylor 416e acoustic-electric guitar serves up sonorous, piano-esque lows, solid midrange, and confident treble. Whether strummed or flatpicked, the Taylor 416e gives your notes articulation - even with a light attack. The Grand Symphony is a body style that means it.

Taylor's Expression System 2 delivers incredibly natural sound with full dynamics

If you play plugged in, then you're going to love the Taylor Expression System 2 (ES2) electronics built into your 416e acoustic guitar. The key to this fantastic system is the 3-section proprietary pickup located behind the saddle. Because of where it's positioned and how it's integrated into the 416e's saddle, the ES2 pickup provides you with remarkably clear and accurate sound. In addition to a master volume control, a pair of tone controls let you tweak your highs and lows to get the sound you need, and a discreet phase switch offers vital onboard feedback suppression. We were more than impressed when Taylor came to Sweetwater to show us what this system can do, and we think you will be too.

It's a Taylor!

There's nothing like a Taylor. Once you get your hands on the 416e acoustic-electric guitar, you'll never want to play anything else! But, what is it that makes a Taylor acoustic so good? For starters, each Taylor is made out of premium tonewoods, for great sound that only gets better with age. You'll also love the easy playing neck. Even if you're primarily an electric player, you'll feel totally comfortable getting around on this neck. Another Taylor hallmark is their commitment to consistent quality and attention to detail - no flawed "built on a Friday afternoon" guitars here! From the innovative neck joint to the durable, top-notch finish, your Taylor is built to play and sound absolutely great, right from the moment you pick it up. Don't settle for less; treat yourself to a Taylor!

Beyond stellar

I've waited a while before posting this to make sure there was no honeymoon bias. I had been on the hunt for a certain something in an acoustic guitar. I had initially wasn't even looking at Taylors, but eventually my eyes turned to the 400 series. After some very helpful chats with my Sales Engineer (Thanks Dave Walent!) I decided the 416e looked like the best fit for me. I had played a bunch of Taylors in my time, but never played a Grand Symphony. Mr. Walent described what I should expect from the GS to a T. So hats off to Sweetwater and Dave for this one! On to the guitar... The playability is fantastic. It sounds great with lights or mediums. I'm currently running Mediums and will probably continue to do so. It can do subtle, sweet and quiet, with full clarity, or you can pound on it with just the slightest growl mixing with the crystal clear articulation this guitar always has. The ES2 pickup exceeded my expectations by quite a lot. Once you try an ES2 equipped guitar, it definitely spoils you. The fit and finish is of course excellent, wood grain is gorgeous, and Taylor really doesn't skimp on the details. Right down to the ebony bridge pins, this is the first guitar in a long time I didn't feel any need to upgrade or swap a single part out. I'll be taking this one to the grave.
