Indian rosewood back and sides

The 412ce-R 6-string acoustic-electric is one of Taylor's most affordable guitars built with solid Indian rosewood back and sides. Indian rosewood - considered by Bob Taylor to be one of the greatest tonewoods of all time - effortlessly adds depth to your low frequencies, sparkle to your high end, and a bit of a midrange scoop that aids in note definition. You'll enjoy all of this and more with your 412ce-R from Sweetwater.

Expression System 2 electronics, for flawless amplified sound

Traditionally, acoustic-electric guitars have employed piezo transducers under their bridge saddles. But Taylor's Expression System 2 is different. It uses a proprietary pickup behind the saddle. The pickup features three individually calibrated, precisely positioned piezo-electric sensors that respond organically to the instrument's acoustic energy as it's transferred through the saddle. In concert with Taylor's custom-designed, studio-grade preamp, the result is a natural acoustic sound with incredible dynamic range and responsiveness to your pick or finger attack.

Grand Concert body

Taylor's Grand Concert body design is well suited for fingerstyle players who want a focused tone that brings out the best in their technique. Your tones will remain balanced across the frequency spectrum, while minimizing the huge lows and overtones that may be desirable in much larger-bodied instruments. And fretting is extremely comfortable due to the 24.87" scale length's narrower fret spacing. You'll fall in love with the controlled, rich tones and effortless playability of the 412ce-R.

Taylor 412ce-R Acoustic-electric Guitar Features:
  • Grand Concert acoustic-electric guitar
  • Solid Indian rosewood back and sides provide a powerful and clear tone
  • Sitka spruce top enhances your tonal nuance
  • Grand Concert body sounds focused and is easy to play
  • Taylor ES2 electronics are beloved for their natural tonality
  • Ebony fretboard and bridge add high-end snap to the tone
The 412ce-R is Taylor's most affordable rosewood-backed Grand Concert.

Great smaller guitar from Taylor

I previously owned a Taylor 414 without the cutaway or electronics, and I have since regretted giving it to my son. I have wanted to get another Taylor ever since, and finally pulled the trigger. I couldn't be more pleased. I was so happy to find the 400 series in Rosewood. I really like the size of the 412 - very comfortable to hold and play. And the sound is just what I wanted - not so loud, but very clear and balanced. I mainly play fingerstyle, but it holds up to strumming just fine. The electronics are very good - a very natural sound that I am quite pleased with. I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

State of the Art Taylor

My Taylor 412ce Rosewood arrived today and it is drop-dead gorgeous all the way around. What a beautiful instrument. Sound is rich, full, expressive, and the shorter scale makes it perfectly suited for fingerstyle playing. Workmanship and attention to detail are impeccable. This guitar stands out as the prize within my collection, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for what must be the best buy within Taylor's product lineup. Hats off to my sales engineer, Ryan Holquist, for his personal inspection and feedback prior to shipment.

Taylor 421ce Grand Concert Acoustic-Electric

My father used to own a music franchise in the early 80s and I remember Taylor had been out there for around 4-6 years. We quite were impressed with these instruments from a craftsmanship and playability perspective. My Dad bought a dreadnaught (which I played every chance that I got) but I always liked the smaller concert models. Over the years, Taylor has maintained and/or improved their quality and consistency. The 412ce has met and/or exceeded my expectations. The only tweak I made was putting lighter gauge strings on it and will eventually have adjust the tension in the truss rod slightly to compensate for the lower tension of the lighter strings. It just gets better every time I pick it up. It has inspired my original compositions and will undoubtedly become my new favorite instrument.
