Superb Taylor Tone and Playability

The Taylor 314 acoustic guitar is a celebration of innovation, Bob Taylor's, that is. The Grand Auditorium body has the width and depth of a dreadnought, but its tapered waist and graceful contours make it look like a smaller instrument and impart balance and presence to the big sound. This makes it a favorite of recording engineers. With its thin, fast neck, the 314 plays like a Taylor, which is to say, effortlessly. If you're in the market for huge, balanced, shimmering tone, sexy visuals, and ultra-playability, the Taylor 314 is the ticket.

Taylor 314 Acoustic Guitar at a Glance:
  • Choice tonewoods: Sitka spruce meets sapele
  • Grand Auditorium body style, for exceptional treble zing
  • Taylor 314 finish: satin with gloss top
Choice tonewoods: Sitka spruce meets sapele

When you pick up a Taylor, you can expect outstanding tone. One of the leading reasons behind that signature Taylor voice is the use of high-quality tonewoods. This particular Taylor, the 314, is a prime example of just that. It features time-proven Sitka spruce as its top, which gives you projection, while its body is comprised of Sapele, a somewhat red-brown tonewood, quite similar to mahogany. The Taylor 314 also features a Tropical American mahogany neck, which is lined with a smooth-playing ebony fingerboard.

Grand Auditorium body style, for exceptional treble zing

Taylor's beloved Grand Auditorium body style, featured on the 314, employs the width and depth of the dreadnought. But its waist is narrower, which gives Grand-Auditorium-bodied acoustic guitars a sleeker look, with more treble zing. The body style also helps to sharpen the definition of each note. Ultimately, from fingerpicking to medium strumming, the Grand Auditorium is a great choice for nearly every playing style.

Taylor 314 finish: satin with gloss top

The finish used to create this guitar's textured satin back, satin sides, and lustrous gloss top was developed at Taylor for maximum durability and resistance to cold-checking. The ultraviolet-cured finish is also more environmentally friendly than traditional lacquer finishes.

Taylor 314 Acoustic Guitar Features:
  • 6-string Grand Auditorium delivers huge, balanced tone
  • Sitka spruce top; sapele back and sides
  • Tropical American mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard
  • Ebony bridge; TUSQ nut and saddle
  • Chrome-plated Taylor tuners
  • Taylor hard bag included
The Taylor 314 is a great choice for guitarists of all styles!

Taylor 314

This is a beautiful instrument, in fact it's a work of art. Even if I didn't play it, I could hang this guitar on the wall and it would look better than any framed artwork. The gloss top is wonderful and the satin finish on the solid wood back and sides is perfectly understated. I originally bought the 214ce ( a superb guitar too) but I really don't need the electrics and prefer the symmetry of the non cutaway, so I returned it and invested in this one instead. Mike Baldonado was an absolute pleasure to deal with and sorted the whole return/exchange process with absolutely no problems at all. He is a credit to Sweetwater and he can be assured that all my future gear will be purchased through him. A very enjoyable experience indeed. Oh....and by the way, the guitar sounds great :-)

Taylor 314

First of all, I love the guitar and the way it was packed for shipping was first rate. I first spoke to Aaron at Sweetwater and he was very informative and extremely helpful with the entire process. Aaron explained how they review all facets of the guitar and make sure it is in the proper humidified environment for a few months before they even sell the guitar. Before it was shipped, I explained that I wanted the lowest action possible without buzzing and that's exactly the way it came.....I couldn't ask for a more perfectly set up guitar and I have been blown away with it so far!.....I honestly can say that you cannot get the service that sweet water gives you anywhere else....They go way out of their way to make you a happy customer....I'm a customer for life!....Thank you Aaron and the guys at Sweetwater.....

You will love this guitar and your sweetwater experience

I was hesitant to purchase a guitar online, but have been talking to a sales engineer for about two months gaining tons of knowledge (and probably driving him crazy with all my questions). I can honestly say that this purchase was more satisfying than any other instrument purchase I've experienced.I received the guitar four days ago and I'm blown away. In my opinion there is not another guitar in the price range that can touch this quality (or tone if you like a crisp, bright acoustic). My 314 and its case arrived in immaculate condition of course. The guitar was set up perfectly. Nice low action with no fret buzz, fret work is a thing of beauty, and my 314 is just a perfect portrayal of Taylor's reputation for gorgeous guitars built to play and sound great with exceptional playability. The first time I played this in front of my wife she mentioned that I sound so much better than before... And she knows nothing about guitars. This guitar just makes you sound better!I could not be happier with this purchase! Buy a Taylor and don't look back!
