The only shockmount you can use use for the RE20

By Sweetwater Customer on April 17, 2024

This is a very well built shockmount. It's easy to use, easy to assemble, and has a very good design that keeps it out of the way.
It absolutely reduces and bumps and such from the recording and is honestly a must.

But also note that you literally cannot use any other shockmount for the RE20, RE27N/D, and RE320 mics. Online you can see claims that you can use the InVision USM for the RE20 but it's too heavy and bottoms it out. The 309A on the other hand is specifically designed for this series of mic and works flawlessly.

Perfectly designed

I had been holding off on get this shockmount for a while now and just trying to get by with my RE20, but the rumble was just too much for me to handle. This shockmount is perfectly designed for the RE20, it's sturdy, sleek, and easy to use and install. Best part is it got rid of that annoying low-end rumble. Shout out to my sales engineer Greg O'Keefe as well for his help. Great service and great quality product. Thanks!

Brian Campbell is my hero.

Before I called Brian about upgrading my shockmount to the EV 309A I had the stock one that came with my articulating boom. I thought to myself, "can I really go on living like a poor person?" Brian was there to help me order what I needed to achieve the next level! Thank you, Brian!

So I purchased my order on October 17th at night, and had questions the next morning about shipping. I spoke with Alex Campos about my order. He was very helpful in assisting me with questions. As promised, On the next business day (today -- October 19th), I received my order after ordering the FedEx next business day. They shipped my order out on the 18th.

My Shockmount arrived home, and I must say it is in perfect condition and works great. I've already ran some tests with it! I recommend the video by EV for Assembly.

I will order again from Sweetwater! The Candy with my order was a nice touch as well! God Bless!

Great Shockmount

By G from Iowa on April 5, 2012 Music Background: Radio/VO

The industry standard for EV mics, of course. It's built like a tank and made to last. Bought it for my new home studio and love it. Nothing new, I've used them at every radio station I've worked and they're always solid and dependable!

An outstanding piece of equipment that handles a superior broadcast mic. Sweetwater has the best price on this and it ships fast. I've very happy with it and it tops off my studio needs extremely well. Very functional piece of professional equipment for the serious recording or broadcast professional.

Electro Voice 309 A Shockmount

By Vincent DiCarlo from Eustis Fl. on May 10, 2013

A great shock mount. It does what it is supposed to do.
I am useing it with the RE 20 mic and a Rode PSA 1 mic arm.
Great combo. No noise or rumble when moving the arm.
I only wish that it had assembly instructions, although it's not that hard to figure out!
Thanks again Sweetwater!

Works well, setup was a bit interesting

By Richard Grace from Tacoma, WA on April 25, 2021 Music Background: Guitar, keyboards and bass

Got the E-V 320 mike first and realized I needed something more, because I know squat about microphones. Well, you learn something every day. When I got this, I looked at the assembly and was perplexed for a couple minutes. Then I slapped it together and went, "no way." Popped the mike in, mounted it on the stand, and it works flawlessly with really good balance at any angle. Those neoprene tentacles are different, for sure.

Easy to set up; works well

By Tom Guild from SoundTrax Recording Studios, Raleigh NC on February 6, 2020

It took a few minutes to figure out how to attach the elastic straps to the mounting hardware (instructions are sort of basic) but once I figured it out, everything went together quickly. It's easy to adjust, and stops subsonics in their tracks.

Great Support Equipment

By Michael Bounds from Mount Vernon, WA on September 2, 2018 Music Background: Musician, Podcaster, Audio Engineer

This shockmount does its job very well. You do need to ensure that you have the correct equipment to get this to work well for you. I bought an RE-320 mostly for podcasting. I first set this up on a cheaper desk boom arm and the mic was just too heavy for it. Not wanting to spend another $99 on a Rode PSA-1 at this time I tried other things. I next set it up on a normal stand with a telescoping boom arm. The angle at which it sat did not work and the mic's weight made the stand unstable. Then I got a different boom arm with a posi-lock extension. I first tried the posi-lock on the original boom arm that came with the stand, and while it worked very well, the weight of the mic still made the stand unstable. Then I put the shorter boom arm on and it became much more stable. The reason this gets a 4 instead of a 5 rating is the fact that you need to set it up to something that is coming from a specific angle in order to work well, but when you have the right setup this is amazing for broadcast/podcast/voiceover work.

Electro-Voice 309 A Shockmount

By Matthew Murray on January 16, 2018 Music Background: Professional

This is a great addition to the RE20, which I just purchased when my other VO mike went down. The mike came with a sturdy support, but I wanted something more substantial and purchased the shock mount. I absolutely love it. Though it"s not difficult to assemble, it doesn"t come with much in the way of instruction. My advice YouTube. But if you"re looking for a shockmount to match your electro-voice mike, by all means don"t buy something inferior. Purchase this one.

Easy to assemble

By VitaleJ from Texas on April 24, 2020

What can I say its a shock mount glad to have it but not so sure it was worth... how ever it is especially useful in over head applications and while it does come with extra rubber bands it doesn't come with assembly instructions....

The shock mount is all I expected. Works well. Good service.

It prevents the EV Re 20 from picking up the vibration of my PC in the
same desk on which the microphone is used or set..

EV 309A Shockmount

By Jim from Pinellas Park, FL on December 29, 2012 Music Background: Semi-pro Musician

Nice piece of equipment, but a little pricy for what it is. The rubber components were very discolored (white) and needed to be cleaned before assembling them to the mount. For the price, I expected perfection.
