This is an extraordinary piece of professional audio gear. You probably know that already if you've been cruising the reviews on line. What you may not know is how wonderful it is to work directly with the Sound Devices factory in the remote event you ever need a repair. My 302 suffered some pretty bad abuse at the hands of the prior owner and SD fixed everything, updated the firmware and even painted the scratches in the case- all for such a low price that I'm embarrassed to pay so little for such world-class customer service and repair service. (They wouldn't accept a dollar more, I tried!) So go ahead and buy this mixer, as well as any other SD product you might need, secure in the knowledge that if anything happens to your device, the crew at SD will always be there to make it work again. This company is in the US (Wisconsin) and you're not supporting a faceless international conglomerate.

The Best 3 channel mixer used by professionals in the field

This product is the best you can buy. There are others but Sound Devices created this to be strong, its made like a brick. The pre-amps and limiters built in are great also. It can use a 4 pin hirosa cable to a NP-1 cup or power distribution system to use as a battery source. But the great thing is 3 batteries and this thing goes for a day and a half. Its a field mixer, so best used in the field, I use it for Film, Docs, TV and sound effects gathering. I use a TA3 output into my zoom H4N into the back stereo 1/8th input. The only con is a minor one, its the headphone out, its high on the left side and can be tight in some bags. nothing to big. The reason i ordered this product from sweetwater was because of the 3 easy payments, made it a great way and super easy to do.

A winner

What a great addition to our gear. Our old shure mixer was not performing to spec. We dumped it for the Sound Devices 302 which was suggested to us by Brendan Murphy (our Sweetwater Rep) We have used this on 3 jobs now and it performed as promised. It's lightweight and does the job. We did notice that the battery consumption was high, but not sure. Will do further testing
