A Natural Choice for Studio or Stage Work

Combine time-tested acoustic design and a natural-sounding pickup system, and you've got the Taylor 214ce Deluxe. Its Grand Auditorium body has the width and depth of a Dreadnought, but its tapered waist and graceful contours make it look like a smaller instrument and impart balance and presence to the big sound, making it a favorite of recording engineers at Sweetwater. With its slender and fast neck, the 214ce Deluxe plays like a Taylor, which is to say, effortlessly. With the 214ce Deluxe, you'll feel well-equipped both on stage and in your studio.

Taylor 214ce DeluxeAcoustic-electric Guitar at a Glance:

Grand Auditorium body style, for exceptional treble zing

Taylor's beloved Grand Auditorium body style, featured on the 214ce Deluxe, employs the width and depth of the Dreadnought; however, its waist is narrower, which gives Grand-Auditorium-bodied acoustic guitars a sleeker look and more treble zing. The body style also helps to sharpen the definition of each note. From fingerpicking to medium strumming, the Grand Auditorium is a great choice for nearly every playing style.

Solid Sitka spruce top gives you wonderfully clear and balanced tone

To give the 214ce Deluxe full tone and and clear projection, Taylor added a solid Sitka spruce top to its layered sapele back and sides. The characteristically open sound of this spruce top really balances the tone, making it a wonderful guitar for any style of music you play.

Taylor Expression System 2 electronics

Taylor's Expression System 2 is designed to faithfully reproduce your guitar's natural tone. This system utilizes three uniquely positioned and individually calibrated pickup sensors installed behind the saddle and through the bridge to capture top and string vibration like never before. Created in partnership with audio pioneer Mr. Rupert Neve, Taylor's electronics are seamlessly integrated into the design of the guitar from the ground up. Onboard tone controls provide added flavor, or set it flat for an uncolored, exceptionally clean amplified sound.

Taylor 214ce Deluxe Acoustic-electric Guitar Features:
  • 6-string Grand Auditorium body delivers huge, balanced tone
  • Solid Sitka spruce top balances tone and enhances projection
  • Graceful Venetian cutaway gives you free access to upper frets
  • Sapele neck with ebony fingerboard play fast and smooth
  • Taylor Expression System 2 electronics deliver a natural amplified sound
  • Taylor hard case included
The Taylor 214ce Deluxe is a great guitar for players of all styles!

Love My Guitar

I love my new Taylor Guitar because it is great to play! I was used to playing electric guitar or acoustic with high actions which makes you work to play and this guitar is so easy to play because the action is low and almost plays itself. I have two other acoustic guitars that can't compare to it. I just found a new love for playing acoustic guitar again. I also think it is a really good looking guitar with quality workmanship.

I just bought this for my son. When it arrived it was all setup by Sweetwater team and tuned and polished, inspected and tweaked to perfection. I wanted to teach my 8 year old how to play guitar. I have a priceless Martin and a newer martin and another Taylor. I started playing this and WOW!!! I mean this is the most playable guitar i have played. The sound is smooth like silk. Basses not to boomee, Highs crisp but not brittle, mids smooth. I could not put it down!! I brought out my Martins and laid them all on the bed. I Picked up one, then played the Taylor 214ce deluxe black, then the super expensive Martin. The Taylor found us all with our mouths open. Unique to its own smooth and sweet. The Martin necks were wider and fatter. I am over 6'2" and have big hands, but holy crap The Taylor 214ce just played itself, I played licks i only played back in High School. I am still confused. Why is this guitar so easy to play? The neck is so perfect. Narrow, but plays like a wide, Glisses just slide like gravy without finger fatigue. Sound is big but not overwhelming. Sits in you lap perfect. All I can say is if you are reading this review buy this guitar now. You will never look back. It will blow you away. Make sure to get some Taylor polish and a nice cloth to wipe the instrument down when you put it down.. Then again you might just never put this baby down! I am in heaven. Oh Yea!! It was for my son. Well I just called Sweetwater and Nick Church to see what the difference from the DELUXE Taylor 214ce Black and the Taylor 914ce Natural is. On paper they look identical except in price and finish. Either way I will be buying one of those next month. My son...he has a guitar that is the best playable acoustic ever made and sounds like a $10k Martin. Amazing. Truly the best choice of a guitar I have ever made. Forget the price. To some its like cheap. To others it may seem like you should not buy it. BUY IT! Its will blow you away. Great job Taylor! This is a dream to play. Thank you for making me enjoy the guitar again. Cloth, Polish, picks. Thats all you need to bring this thing to life. Don't forget to let Sweetwater string it up and do its inspection and setup! You will open the case and WOW!! Worth every dime. Oh and if you ever leave your wife or run from a fire..GRAB THIS first when you leave the house. That way you will be able to bring back happiness into your life and others. Cheers

taylor 214ce blk

Purchased this guitar the other day from Sweetwater. Had a chance to play live at church this last Sunday and I was blown away with its plugged in sound. I appreciated the simplicity and effectiveness of the Bass, Treble and volume controls. I am not a musical rocket scientist, I just rotate them until it sounds amazing. Visually the guitar is stunning. I was on the bubble as to which deluxe to buy. I was leaning toward the tobacco burst version but my Wife and daughter said no way. I must admit, when I opened that ridiculously nice Fort Knox style heavy duty case I humbly agreed. Given the upgraded finish on back and sides, the hard shell case and the upgraded electronics, it seems this combo would be next to impossible to beat. Thanks Taylor, and thanks Sweetwater for shipping it to me faster thanks Jimmy Johns.
Music background: church boy (live every sunday) and home recording artist

So nice!

This guitar is everything promised. Neck is just right. The first strum sounded great. This is my first Taylor and I am impressed by the feel and sound of this black beauty.
