Grand Auditorium body style gives you exceptional treble zing

Taylor's beloved Grand Auditorium body style, featured on the 214ce-N, employs the width and depth of the Dreadnought. But, its waist is narrower, which gives Grand Auditorium bodied acoustic guitars a sleeker look, with more treble zing. The body style also helps to sharpen the definition of each note, making it perfect for both classical and modern fingerstyle techniques.

Layered koa provides great tone and exceptional durability

If you're looking for a guitar that sounds great and will last a lifetime, the Taylor 214ce-N is a wonderful choice. Not only does the 214ce-N's layered koa body make it one of Taylor's more affordable models, it also makes it more resistant to changes in temperature and humidity than most all-solid-wood models. In fact, many traveling guitarists prefer layered acoustics because of their exceptional reliability.

Solid Sitka spruce top gives you wonderfully clear and balanced tone

To give the 214ce-N full tone and and clear projection, Taylor added a solid Sitka spruce top to its layered koa back and sides. The characteristically open sound of this spruce top really balances the tone of the 214ce-N, making it a wonderful guitar for any style of music you play.

Taylor 214ce-N Nylon-string Acoustic-electric Guitar Features:
  • An acoustic-electric nylon-string guitar with a bright and balanced voice
  • Grand Auditorium body style gives you a dreadnought-style projection with a more expressive upper register
  • Spruce top provides a well-balanced tone
  • Durable layered koa back and sides add excellent projection
  • Onboard ES-N electronics give you natural sound even when plugged in live
  • Hard Bag gig bag included

very nice

I played this guitar at a couple local music stores and tried many other brands before buying.the quality is up to my steel string American made Taylor with the exception of laminate back and sidesand neck is slightly rougher but thin and very playable. I started using it for recording and am very happy with the electronics gives you a good clean sound you can than manipulate with effects. I changed to regular tension strings, other than that it did not need any adjustments. I would recommend trying onebefore you buy.

My Second Taylor

Sweetwater always delivers, whether instruments, electronics. And the service is awesome. I buy nowhere else for music stuff. Every guitar is different, of course, even just out of the shipping case. When I went to tune the guitar, a bass range wound string snapped as I tuned up to its note, and so I had to replace it from the start. I checked the Taylor site, and they had the spec on which string and what make. I got that at George's Music here in PA, and was good to go after re-stringing. Settling in the strings and retuning to get the right stretch at this point. My 314CE is 2003, and I wanted a Classical version to broaden my range of sound. The precision of Taylor guitars and the incredible customer service of Sweetwater assured me this would be the place I'd buy my second Taylor. Wouldn't ever look anywhere else. Thank you, Mike!

Loose brace

The guitar is really nice. However, there was an unglued brace under the soundboard that was making a horrible racket. I talked with the great people at Sweetwater and a replacement guitar is on it's way.

Taylor 214ce-N

Originally wanted the "made in USA" model 414ce-N but it was not readily available. Bought the "made in Mexico" 214ce-N which is basically the same except for laminate vs. solid wood back and sides. The guitar plays great and the build quality is excellent. I have other Taylor acoustic guitars and this one compares favorably with one exception. Both the satin finish and grain smoothness on the back of the neck is different between the US models and the Mexican models. This was confirmed to me by a Taylor factory representative. The US versions are much superior. I have used a 0000 steelwool on the back of the neck along with bowling alley wax and this has helped a great deal. I would recommend the US version (either 314ce-N or 414ce-n) if this is important to you. The action on the guitar is just as good as the US versions. I would have rated this guitar a 5 if the neck finish were equal to the US made Taylors.
