Worth the Buy

I play a Hammond Sk2 at a mega-church in Tulsa. Our sanctuary seats just under 5k, and depending on the speaker/events we fill it up a few times with multiple services over the weekends. While directing in with the onboard Leslie produced great results, I was craving more! I was worried about how small this guy is and if it would be able to keep up with the large area. This 200W packs a punch and shocked our sound engineers. They were amazed at the quality of the warm sound as well. It keeps a low profile (which staging crews love) and we enclose it with soundproof panels in every direction but mine so I can treat is as a stage monitor (we use Avioms also). We direct in for the lows, and use a mic for the horn. After the mixing is done, this has exceeded my expectations. I love adding that subtle crunch with the tube, and you can floor your expression pedal to increase the grit, just like our old B3/Leslie. I have a preset perfect for the conditions of the church auditorium, and another that I can tweak live anytime for smaller venues. I went the route of the 2101 for it's tweakability. There are so many things you can do with this model that I don't see you can do with the other modern Leslie's. This is totally worth the purchase, you won't be disappointed.

Leslie 2010

Great sound when hooked to Hammond XK-1 C. Both easily carried to gigs for old players who want a B3 and Leslie 122 sound. Does not sound exact, but any one in a bar that remembers what a B3 is,or sounds like is too old to have the best of hearing anyway.

leslie 2101 mk2

I looked all over the internet for feedback on theis little leslie. Not much out there for good or bad. I ordered this last week to run an old hammond xb2 through. I have a 1954 hammond b2 and a 1972 hammond porta b with both running through 122's. I really hoped this little leslie, the 2101 did not let me down. The xb2 sounds really great with it. You can tweek the sound and most people would not be able to tell what it is. I don't think you can go wrong with this. This leslie is 50lbs. and the Hammond XB2 is 30lbs. Very easy to haul. I LOVE IT !!!!

Leslie 2101 mk2 - Not too bad

I have a Hammond B3 and a Leslie 122; if compare the B3/122 to the XK-3C/2101 mk2 I have to say its close but the B3 and Leslie 122 have a richer and more of a 3 dimensional sound than the XK-3C/2101 mk2 combination. I was able to resolve this by using the outputs on the back of the 2101 mk2 into a 50 watt tube stereo valve amp using my JBL JRX-215's and used a Sterling ST-59 to mic the upper rotor and used my small Yamaha mixer and DBX EQ to work the sound to almost an exact replication of my B3 and stock Leslie 122. Although this is a workaround, it takes a boat load of extra equipment to get you there and you might as well just buy a used Leslie 122 for what you'd pay for the Leslie 2101 mk2. In conclusion, the Leslie 2101 mk2 is a nice piece of gear and produces a nice Leslie sound, however, if you are looking for an exact replication of the B3/Leslie 122, you will need some additional gear to get you there.
