Great for Telecaster

This is a great looking case. Perfectly fits and protects a Telecaster. Not my first SKB case... and if needed, not my last.

SKB 1SKB-66 PRO Case

By Ryan Van Arkel from Cedar Falls, IA on May 12, 2023 Music Background: Semi-professional Rock/country

Hello! I purchased this hardcase with the help of my personal salesman from Sweetwater (Josh P). He helped guide me through my needs, budget etc. Sweetwater goes through cases and different models of guitars and "scores" the guitars with a given case for fit. I purchased an S2 Standard 22 from Sweetwater and ended up with this case. At first try of putting the guitar in the case I thought the case was slightly too small. As it turns out the guitar had to be pushed down into place (gently) and it was almost as if this case was made custom for this model. It literally fits perfect! There's PLENTY of room in the inside cavity for my Levi strap, wireless case, strings etc. I did do a video on youtube with this case and the guitar, and also a comparison of my Les Paul studio in this case (which is NOT a good fit). It actually does not work fyi. Good luck in your searches everyone!

Get the job done WELL

By Henry Schuellerman from HUDSON, OH on May 5, 2023 Music Background: Avid Gigging and Recording Musician

I want to keep my guitar playable for as long as possible, so I figured it'd be worth it to buy a nice case. I've been gigging hard with this case for over a year. It fits my strat perfect and has a little storage section for picks, strap, strings, etc. I've never flown with the case but it's been thrown around the back of cars n trucks and I've never had to worry about it. I like having the option to lock it. The latches feel super sturdy. In my opinion it's one of the best bang-for-your-buck cases

Excellent hard case for my Strat.

By Sweetwater Customer on March 7, 2023

SKB makes great cases and this is a good example. Tight but not too tight. Very sturdy. I highly recommend it.

This is my 2nd SKB case. I bought one for my JA-90 Thinline Telecaster and one for my American Performer Stratocaster. Both are a pefect fit. Quality guitars deserve quality cases, period. I won't buy anything but SKB.

Nice solid case

By Tony M from Columbia MO on September 23, 2022

Fits both squire and fenders better than the case that came with my fender American pro and also seems like it might take more abuse

Trusted case

By Kris on September 16, 2022 Music Background: Worship team Acoustic/electric thythm

I play rhythm guitar on a Worship team and move my gear from home to church all the time. I've had some cases that I carry by the handle with a finger over the outside because the latches have opened on their own. Not with my SKB cases. I 110% trust the tsa latch. The case is plush and holds my guitar with loving care and the tsa latch never opens until I open them. I own 3 SKB cases and my next one will be....you guessed it, a SKB case. I trust them and so can you!

Best Case for Strat or Tele

By Wayne Warden from San Benito, Texas on October 15, 2021 Music Background: Recording and Live

Both Strats and Teles fit perfectly in this case. It is a bit thinner than the new Fender case and seems more solid. If your Fender comes without a case then this is the one for you.

I feel protected!

By Ben Bowen from DEER PARK, TX on March 18, 2021 Music Background: I have blisters on me fingers!

I had been watching, deciding on a case for my recently acquired 2009 USA Strat this came available and I managed to snag this Demo case.
The description said condition was great! , and it is. Just as new. I ordered its and was later contacted by both Rob and Courtney as a follow up. I received the case in three days. All good by me. The case arrived in great shape being well packed and protected.
I opened it up and immediately grabbed the closest axe and placed it in the case which was my MIM FSR 50's Butterscotch Telecaster.Perfect fit on the Tele, but sorry Tele this is not for you ..the next closest axe was my 1997 MIM Stratocaster..again Perfect fit....still this case is not for you, you already have your own...so finally the USA 2009 Strat goes in and also fits like a glove.
I did try my G&L ASat Deluxe Carved Top that I picked up from Sweetwater sometime back and it does not fit like a glove...the headstock is a bit longer than the fenders and does not fit into the cavity thus raising the neck up out of the neck slot as well. (FYI)
The case is perfect for my needs as I do not gig or travel these days. However I do believe this case would be up to those tasks with the TSA locks which opened and operated well, and ABS exterior. The foam inside is in fact rigid covered with a plush lining. The grip is hefty and comfortable to grip. The weight is not overbearing.. Please pardon my over indulgence on posting the (6) pics.

better than the gig bag

solid protection, excellent value

Want a hard case? Buy this one!

By Sweetwater Customer on January 19, 2020

My guitar case experience isn’t vast as others. That said after a few different ones (one being a current Fender tweed case). This SKB is case hard to beat especially for the price point IMO!

I’m mainly using this case for storage and back and forth between guitar lessons. I haven’t flown with it, doubt I ever will but wouldn’t hesitate to do so. My Strat and Tele fit like a glove! They’re snug but in a good way. I love the latches as they lock with authority.

I’ve was on the fence between a higher end gig bag and this case at first. Glad I went down this road, I’ll be buying a second sooner than later.

SKB pro case

Ive used SKB cases for yrs so I knew this case was perfect for my needs. Its does its job and does it well

Terrific Case for Flying!

By Sweetwater Customer from Connecticut on April 1, 2019 Music Background: Learning to play guitar, but played a lot of piano.

My Strat came with a Fender-branded case that, they said, was made by SKB. I'm not a professional musician, but I'm an old guy learning to play and take the guitar everywhere work takes me, so it gets into "checked luggage" often. The first four trips I took, the case came back with a new crack each time. I finally asked Delta Airlines what I should do to stop this and they offered to replace it will this one. I've flown at least 30 times since then and not a crack or a ding. By the way, the guitar is still perfect as well!

Highly recommended.

Perfect strat/tele case for the price

By Liam Meyer from Dublin, OH on January 12, 2019 Music Background: Aspiring guitarist

I"ve built a strat and a tele and have been needing a proper hard shell case for my guitars and this case is perfect for that. I play guitar in my jazz band at school and take my guitars to and from school everyday and this case will hold up well.

The Gold Standard

By Matt from Woodstock on December 13, 2017 Music Background: Pro

I've tried a lot of cases in my 50+ of playing guitar. For this price, this SKB case is the gold standard in protection for your Strat or Tele IMO. Sturdy construction, snug fit, ample accessories compartment, light weight and quality latches and handle make this the most practical choice for me. This case offers much better protection than the standard Fender or Fender licensed G&G case, and it costs less than the G&G.

Great gear, outstanding case

By Charles "Mick" McBride from Guysville, OH on November 17, 2016

Very nicely designed and excellent construction. Strat fits perfectly. I want to think I ordered it on a Saturday and received it on Tuesday. Great shopping experience!!!

Well design molded case

By RL from San Francisco on September 11, 2016

My engineer's view on the molded design is the three rib top and back adds structural stiffness to the case where the others don't. It just makes it stronger where it doesn't bend and flex as much. It is a well design case and at a competitive price point. It fits my new Baja telecaster nicely and I am very satisfy with it and with Sweetwater service.

SKB Pro Series Guitar Case - Stratocaster/Telecaster

This case is well made and fits my Tele like a glove.
A perfect fit.

Fantastic Case

By Terry Murphy from Jersey City, NJ on May 19, 2016

I had one of the $120 Fender tweed cases, which was nice (I have two others).....but I wanted something more solid for my Strat, which would be moving around with me. I've always had great experiences with SKB cases, and this one is no exception. Very solid, very secure, and everything fits in the large accessories compartment. Yes, it would be nice if it had a cover, but when the case is closed, nothing moves.....so it's really just a comfort thing, of having a cover....it doesn't really seem to be critical to holding things in place. For only slightly more, I have a case that many more times more protective.

Great Case

By Arsey51 from U.S.A. on March 27, 2016

The SKB Pro is probably the best deal in guitar cases right now. Great fit, very protective, and a super low price. You'll only get more protection from one of the waterproof cases, but those are three times the price of this one. I'm really happy with mine.

The best case for the worst case.....

By Rob Fraser from Chicago, IL. on January 27, 2016 Music Background: Working recording guitarist

I have a custom Gibson Les Paul Axcess custom shop that came with a good case but I am a very, very, overprotective guitar parent and the stock case is simply not airworthy for a working guitarist and this is my primary recording guitar and I (As usual) replaced the case with an SKB Pro and it was worth every cent as usual (being already reasonably priced) survived American Airlines using it for a hockey stick or something. Upon arrival from O'Hare to Los Angeles the case had a huge smash in the headstock area and as well a HUGE crush on the body. I was sickened when I saw it coming down the airports luggage handling. I lamented in even opening the case expecting the worst. I swallowed my lunch again and popped the locks and opened it up and the guitar was UNTOUCHED by whatever crushed it... Something very heavy landed on it- no question.... I had managed to attract the attention of security by some of my comments and a wee bit of swearing before opening the case and asked the security if any of them had $15,000 on them and I'd calm down...... Well the case took all the abuse and AA later sent a check for the case replacement and note I DID declare the value of the guitar assuming they would apply the usual "fragile" tag- nope... And just so you know even if your guitar IS insured if you review your policy it's NOT covered in transit normally... The case was gone.... The guitar was fine and I bought one in LA before returning home.... I have a lot of SKB's right next to my stock cases.... As a collector and working player I take very good care of my gear and don't want the stock OEM cases damaged to retain value. Don't skimp when it's out of your hands...

Very Nice Case

By MGW on September 9, 2015 Music Background: Guitarist/Engineer/Producer

This is a "Very Nice Case" I've been using SKB cases for years, many rack cases have traveled down the touring roads, and this case looks like it can take it! For really heavy use, I would use the iSeries by SKB, a truly Tour Proven Case but it is also Heavy at 19lbs compared to the "Pro Series" at 8.6lbs. Both are not "Real" heavy but at 8.6lbs (empty) it's great for the rehearsal studio's and everyday movement in the city while giving you confidence that your guitar is safe. I also own SKB's 1SKB-62 case that is nice, close to the Pro series but the 1SKB-62 is a little heavier than the Pro Series at 11.75lbs. but the case flexes more as being "Thinner" construction. The Pro Series is an all around Great Case and will take years of beating while keeping the guitar safe & sound. The sales staff at Sweetwater are Great!!! They know a lot more than just equipment, there musician's and artists, with years of experience.

SKB Pro Series Guitar Case

By Richard Parker from Cicero, IN on December 3, 2013 Music Background: Songwriter and Musician

Love the case. I bought it to protect a Line 6 Variax I also purchased from Sweetwater. I do not care for gig bags. I also have purchased several other SKB Pro cases for a Strat and a Fender Aerodyne bass, also bought from Sweetwater. The case is rock solid while being uncharacteristically lightweight and easy to carry. Strong handle, tough closure buckles. What is not to like. And a at a great price!

Great case

By Dale Sorrells from Patterson, IL on September 26, 2013 Music Background: Musician

I bought 2 of these cases and they fit my Tele and my Strat like a glove. Seem like a tough on the outside gentle on the inside case

Very Good Guitar Case

By Will from Tx on April 13, 2023

Excellent case, and not too expensive. Fits a Stratocaster perfectly without too much excess in length or width. Perfect fit with no slop. Well padded, and with very little of the odd odor that often accompanies guitar cases. Sturdy shell that does not cave under pressure, appears it would handle some moderate impacts as well, but let's hope we never have to find out. Latches are pretty stout and engage with confidence.
Only thing missing really is a closed compartment for accessories, however that is not a deal breaker and there is a compartment area for items like a strap, strings and tremolo bar, and those items don't rattle or fall to other areas of the case.
Certainly road worthy, as far as flying with it…I would take the chance, just not with my most prized guitar. Baggage handlers can get pretty aggressive.

All in all a great case for the $$$, no regrets on the purchase.

Very Happy with my new case

By James from PA on January 31, 2018

The original case for my 25 year old Strat was starting to fall apart. This case is smaller, lighter, well made and feels like it will provide better protection than the original. Thanks for the recommendation, Robert!

Great Case

By RJoz from Nevada on December 21, 2015 Music Background: Played for nearly 40 years not, both professionally and as a hobby/addiction

This case is an excellent fit for my Baja Tele. I stayed away from the Fender cases because they are known to be just about 1" too big for a Tele, and I didn't want mine bouncing around in the case. This one is bullet proof, has a very high quality feel to it, and to top it off is extremely light... I was quite surprised at how light it is. I wouldn't not hesitate to buy this one again and again, it is impressive. I didn't give it the full 5 star rating because I think that the price is just a little on the high side.

Took a bullet for my Strat

By Bill from Little Rock, AR on December 13, 2014 Music Background: Amateur Guitarist

I have a custom Strat that I wanted to be able to safely take to the air with, and after consult with Alan, decided this was the case to use. Checked it in at Washington Dulles and when I arrived at Little Rock, found that USAir had managed to smash a corner (broken ABS and bent metal band). BUT, the Strat was fine, and in fact, USAir reimbursed me for the case. So I'll order another!

Perfect

By Paul from Rock Hill, SC USA on March 15, 2014 Music Background: Musician, Recording Engineer,

I've already owned this case for my other guitar and it was obvious choice for me pick up another one. This is a great guitar case made very well; however, I had a little bit problem to fit my guitar in. It's really tight but I don't see it like a big problem. I just adjusted the foam inside the case on one side and then after that everything was ready good to go.

A great case for your strat or tele

By Sweetwater Customer on January 10, 2014

This is one of my favorite cases for strats. I have two of these - one is the "fender" version that Fender used to use with the American Standard series. (They have since cost reduced to a cheap crappy case). My second is the SKB version, same case. I like the light weight, decent protection, TSA latches, and the fairly good sized accessory area in the case. The only thing I don't like is the price - these seem to have gone up quite a bit - maybe that's why Fender dumped them, not sure. Still, a great case. I cut half a star on value. I think this should sell for closer to $125 instead of $160.

Almost perfect

By Jim Becker from Los Angeles on December 19, 2020

Great for protecting the instrument and for travel… Not too bulky… The only drawback is no compartment with a lid inside. That would be a nice addition. Otherwise, glad I got one.

Fender Protector

By Jules from New York City on October 7, 2016

This case fits either Strat or Tele like a glove and offers superb carrying-case protection. The TSA-Approved latches work smoothly, the carrying handle is ideally placed for good balance, and the case looks looks professional (as well as being strong).

Solid Case

By Sweetwater Customer on September 30, 2016 Music Background: Hobbyist

Love it! Fits like a glove. Protects like the secret service. I'd give 5 stars if the storage compartment had a lid.

SKB Pro Series Guitar Case for Strat

By Sweetwater Customer from San Francisco on October 31, 2013 Music Background: Gigging hobbyist musician

The SKB Pro Series guitar case for my Eric Johnson Strat is very well made, as are all SKB products. It's lighter than the Fender case that came with my guitar, but it seems sturdier, and with more secure latches and reinforced top and sides. My only reason for not giving a 5-star rating is that the compartment for storing picks, strings, strap, etc. should have a lid--for the price of this case, a hinged $5 lid with a snap closure would make this case first rate!

A little rough around the edges

By Richard Franklin from Leander, TX on January 29, 2018 Music Background: I've been a regularly gigging musician for over 10 years.

This case seems to be made well. Seems like it could take a beating. I'm not happy with the alignment of the aluminum strips. For whatever reason they don't see to line up well when my guitar is in the case. I have a Schecter PT Elite (tele style) and it seems to fit well but I have to push a bit on the latch by the body to get the case to align properly. Once it's latched, everything is great.

The storage compartment leaves a little to be desired but it seems like a common trend today. I don't feel like this case if worth $160 but it seems like the best option available for my application.

I would buy again if price drops.

Way overpriced for the priduct

By Kevin from Sioux Falls SD on August 5, 2015 Music Background: Multi instrument 40 year player

Average extremely horribly basic case. Its not Sweetwaters fault, its probably why Fender went with Gator. Made in Mexico I cant see how the production cost of this case could top $50.00. And shipping? Thats their cost for building them in Mexico. It will work and what choice does anyone have? No compartments and polyester monkey fur throughout. Ugh.

Great case - not certified fit for a Talman (electric)

By Sweetwater Customer on December 9, 2022

Bought this case for an Ibanez Talman guitar (YY20) which was on the list for "certified fit". This case 100% does not fit my guitar. As of this review writing, I still see it on the list.

The case does fit my tele perfectly and it is high quality... so I am keeping it.

Silver Sky teeters

By Mark on July 15, 2021

Well built case, but my PRS Silver Sky didn't lay flat. Pushing down on the top of the neck resulted in the body lifting slightly, creating a teetering motion. So uneven pressure was applied with the case lid closed.
Not good long term.

Horrible chemical smell

By Shannon McMichael from Shepherdsville, KY on February 1, 2024

This is a nice case but it has a horrid chemical smell that you can't get rid of. I've tried activated charcoal and leaving it out in the sun for several hours and it still smells horrible. I can't recommend it.

Guitar case a huge disappointment

By Richard Schwarz from Manchester, MD on November 10, 2023

Latches are really hard to open, case feels like cheap plastic and my Telecaster doesn't fit in it right. Totally not what I was expecting.
