Fender Yosemite Telecaster 2-piece Pickup Set - Black/Chrome Reviews
There’s been lots of chatter about the stellar tone of Fender’s American Performer Telecasters. Well, now you can inject your Tele with the same coveted sound. This duo of Yosemite single-coil pickups is armed with Alnico IV magnets, which are more powerful and defined than Alnico IIs, but less bright and focused than Alnico Vs. You’ll benefit from a fast attack and a clean musical tone that upholds the tried-and-true Telecaster sound you’ve grown to love. At Sweetwater, we’ve dialed in everything from nuanced cleans to gnarly overdriven twang with Yosemite pickups — the best of classic and modern tones. Layered, articulate, and uncompromising, this Yosemite Telecaster Pickup Set is a must-have upgrade for your Tele.

great sound; low price.
Replaced my squire affinity telecaster's stock ceramic pick ups with a pair of Yosemites. I can't say enough about the difference--from good sound to excellent sound at very reasonable price.
The best Tele pickup in years
I have endorsements from high end pickup companies and these just beat them out. There's so much clarity and the mud is taken out of the fq range. My buddy bought an American performer tele with these and I feel in love. These are my favorite pickups since the invention of the telecaster.
Just a heads up the neck pickup pin these was really tall compared to my others pickups.
Breath new life...
Authentic... Raw... Original... Brillaint.
Breath new life into your playing and that Tele that's been sitting in its case for too long. You'll have so much fun with this new set of pups.
These babies went into my parts-caster... 5 Stars.
Neck Pickup Specs Are Wrong
I recently purchased a set of these pickups. When I put thm on my meter, the rear pickup measured 7.0. The front measured 6.16. I was concerned as everywhere I looked the front should be in the 7.3 range. So, I contacted Fender customer support.
I received a email today verifying that my pickup is correct and that the information on there website is INCORRECT.
This is the email that I got from Fender:
________________
Hello Mick,
Your pickups are actually correct. The neck pickup should be between 5.7k and 6.3k, and bridge pickup is between: 7.6k - 8.2k. So they are within tolerance. The spec information on our site is incorrect and will notify our Fender web team to make the correction. Apologies for the confusion.

The fine folks at Fender have always been a great help to me over the years and have once again solved a puzzle for me.
Sound great
I put these pickups into my Mexican telecaster. I don't think that they don't necessarily sound better than the old pickups, but they sound more like a telecaster should sound. The bridge pickup is very twangy and the neck pickup is round and full sounding. They are a little less output than the Mexican pickups. The Yosemites just sound like what I expect a telecaster to sound like.
I also did the 4-way switch mod on my tele, and these pickups made that easy. The neck pickup has the three required wires for that (some have only two), so I didn't need to solder an extra wire. The bridge and neck in series rocks!
Future classics?
Can't say enough- these sound great in my Partscaster! Definite vintage sound, but with all the output I need.
Great pickups for the money
excellent pickups but also excellent customer service fro Sweetwater as always
Gave my Squier Tele new life.
Looking to replace the cheap microphonic pickups in my Squier Affinity Telecaster(that i kind of made worse trying to mod with a 4 way switch). Since swapping them, my Tele is the guitar i usually pickup to play, because these pickups are fantastic. Theyre great for everything from jazz to metal. And of course, Sweetwaters customer service is the best ive ever seen.
Amazing Sound Quality!
These pickups sound great compared to the stock ones in my TELE. Since these are not noiseless pickups, you do get some of that lovely 60-cycle hum; however, the sweet sweet neck pickup is almost silent for me. Without any mods, I have to say that the middle position has got to be my favorite sound that I have gotten out of any of my guitars.
Only one issue with these pickups, the bridge is incredibly microphonic. I mean I can get the tap tone of my guitar body when I tap it. This could have also been a user error as I installed these by myself so I am not docking any stars for this. I also think that this microphonic sound adds to tone of the bridge pickup and I sort of love it.
I primarily play modern-styled music like deftones circa survive, or architects; however, these pickups are versatile enough to chug then go back to playing some Pink Floyd. Love it!
Very nice, open sound
I had a late 70"s tele that was stolen from me 30 years ago. I could never get that sound again. After doing some research I learned that pickups from that era were potted with lacquer (that guitar was very microphonic at loud volumes). I took a chance on these and found what I was looking for. They are on the bright side. Very defined and articulate sound. And the price is right!
Yosemite pick ups
Great vintage sound, fast service & shippingA+. Thank you
Love them. Perfect for my Tele
I put these Yosemite pickups in my MIM Telecaster Standard in place of the basic ceramic pickupsit came with. I liked the original pickups well enough but felt they were a little blurry sounding.
The Yosemite pickups are very articulate and bakanced and deliver the Telecaster tones I always remembered and loved. They are not too hot and not too weak, but just right.
I won"t be changing these out. They are perfect for me.
I love ‘em
I'm a serial pickup swapper and these are my end point. They are a bit hotter than a traditional tele, but to me they sound nicely balanced (especially in the middle position) and great in every position. I play mostly clean with a bit of breakup and they are fantastic for that. The extra output makes for a great overdrive sound. I previously tried the highly regarded twisted tele pickups, but I couldn't get the sound I was looking for. The neck is too much like a strat and the bridge is too dark for me, no real twang. I also tried a ton of others from various manufacturers. These are perfect and CHEAP! But pickups, like music itself, are totally subjective.
Nice Pickups
Replaced the stock pickups in my Ventura Tele clone with these. They really smoothed out the tone and gave it more of a Telecaster sound. One word of warning if you're using these in a non Fender guitar be prepared to route the bridge cavity and file the pick guard for the neck pickup.
Great pickups for the money
The new Fender Yosemite pickup set is the true Telecaster sound I was looking for. If your Tele is not a Vintage or an expensive model, then you need to upgrade to these amazing pickups. Bright, clean, no noise and famous twang known to Telecasters. I had four new US Teles in the late 60s and 70s. My MIM Tele was transformed to the original sound of my old Teles just by switching to these. Love the new Yosemite pickups.
Well Made, But Not My Sound
These are well-constructed pickups. I tried them out as an upgrade on a Tele-style guitar. They were too hot for the tone I was looking for, so I returned them.
It really comes down to your rig, and the sound you like. If you want high output and a lot of bite, then these will probably do the trick. If you're looking for a more vintage tone with greater complexity, they probably won't.
But 4 stars seems fair, since Fender built a quality pickup set at a reasonable price.
Good Pickups, Not My Sound
These are well-made pickups, and are an excellent value--if you like their tonal balance. But they just didn't have the sound I'm looking for. They were a too forward in the mid-range, and the bridge pickup was awfully bright on its own. I played them through 3 different amplifiers. With some eq I could get them close to what I was looking for, but not quite.
I've returned the Yosemites, and will replace them with a set of Fender Pure Vintage 64s which sound great in another Tele I have. (The two guitars have different setups.)
Bottom line: If you're looking for a more aggressive tone that's on the bright side, the Yosemites should do the trick. But if you're looking for a more classic and versatile tone, I think there are better choices.
Yosemiti pick ups for tele
They sound bad to me. Tin can sound, not very clear at all. Not what i expected, the discription and hype just dont add up to me.
