Pricey Stand of Slightly Above Average Quality

This stand is very elegant looking and gets compliments, but the quality leaves much to be desired when you get up close. For the high price, I was expecting a furniture quality stand with a furniture quality finish. The base is painted a satin black, and it's not smooth. It has a very slight prickly texture which snags cloth when trying to remove the dust. It doesn't take to furniture polish very well either, produces streaks when trying to clean it. The cherry colored part appears to be real wood, but again, the finish leaves much to be desired. It can always be refinished, or at the least a good buffing with steel wool and a few more coats of a good quality finish. There is a beautiful decal displaying the "Fender" logo that doesn't show, it faces the back of the stand, and I doubt this is intentional. I believe this is another example of poor quality control. The set screws to assemble the stand were put on the wrong side of the cherry wood. Coincidentally that's also the side that has a smoother and better feel to the finish, it was supposed to be the front. The hanger assembly on the first one I received was poorly made. The yoke has a lip that fits into a notch and when you turn the yoke right side up, it is supposed to lock the yoke in place. Well the lip was too small and when I went to remove my guitar from the stand, the yoke came with it. The yoke would not lock into the stand. Seller sent a replacement stand and the yoke was better made and locked in place as it should. But this stand should have a screw-in permanent type yoke, as on a wall, I would trust it more. While I intend to keep this stand because it is nice looking, and would cost too much to return it, I think it is highly over-priced and not of the best quality. It's good quality, but worth more like $30-$40 dollars rather than the MSRP of $149.99! Ridiculous! I guess I was expecting more from Fender. Even at the price I paid of $79.99 it's still overpriced.. Had I purchased this locally, I probably would have returned it for a refund, due to the high cost and mediocre quality.

Overall quality

The quality of this stand is barel average at best. It's a cheaply constructed Chinese made stand. One thing I'm really disappointed in is that the fender logo is on the wrong side of the frame. Also has a bad parts list with the instructions. The best thing was the discount from sweet water versus buying it from fender.
